We know Lily got into a wee bit of trouble in her younger yearsđ¤ was there any particular incident she was actually proud of?Â
If Lily and Seb had a different meet-cute from canon, what would it be?đ
Lilyâs favorite magical creature and nonmagical creature? đž
The significance behind Lilyâs patronus? â¨
If Lily were a mythical being (like a mermaid, fae, centaur, etc) what would she be and why?
Love you both dearlyđhope you have the happiest of birthdays bestieđĽ°
Rubyyyyy!!! đĽšđĽš
Thank you so much my love đˇđ You truely know how to brighten my day 𫶠Also... you're working on something?!?!?!!?

And please, sending me a Happy Birthday message is more than enough! And I just know Edward would have Elizabeth swooning at his Owl's all Summer long đ
Seriously, those two are hot asf. They have no right to be that perfect đ¤đ¤đ¤
Sebastian? Nah. Lame. Lost his chance when he called her ignorant. Hasn't got that gentlemanly rizz either.
Edward though?

A Short Quillow Story (Elizabeth Quinn x Sebastian Sallow)
Sunday July 5th, 1891, Castle Combe, England.
âLily, darling,â William called, opening their kitchen window for a small tawny owl, âyou have another letter.â
âAnother?â Elizabeth asked eagerly, rising from her seat despite her motherâs hands still being in her hair.
           âAckâLily!â
The braid that was about to be finished slipped through Ăineâs fingers.
âWere you not expecting another?â William handed Elizabeth the envelope with one eyebrow quirked.
âI was not, no,â she said.
âI certainly wasnât.â Ăine stepped in with her hands on her hips.
The Irish lilt in Ăineâs voice was always stronger when she did that.
It made Elizabeth laugh.
âHow many is that now?â Ăine stepped closer, gathering the loose strands once more. âOne from those nice boys Ominis and Quin, another from Garreth, Poppy, and Nattyââ
William stepped in with a handful of other letters.
âAh,â Ăine smirked, âand Aliria, and Lenora, Lottie, and Edward, andââ
âAlright, alright,â Elizabeth laughed, âyes, I have made a great deal of very wonderful friends.â
âAnd here we were worrying youâd want to come home this year.â William smiled warmly, shaking his head.
Elizabeth smiled with them, looking down when she noticed something different about this letter.
Her brow furrowed.
No address, just blank save for her name.Â
How curiousâŚ
Seeing her expression, Ăine waved her off with a chuckle. âGo on.â
Elizabeth smiled backâthough it didnât quite reach her eyes this time.
She jogged up the stairs to her bedroom, throwing herself onto her bed.
Slowly, she slipped her finger under the envelope, tearing it open with a restraint unknown to her.
But when she unfolded the letter, the world seemed to stop for just one moment.
Elizabeth held the letter close to her chest.
She hadn't been expecting this letter...
But it certainly did make her feel better after the heartacheâthe uncertainty.
It gave her hope that he was safe. That in his search for Anne, he found somewhere comfortable to rest.
The wonderful, amazing, funny af, gorgeous, talented @rvchelking and I were discussing (briefly, mind you) my re-write/re-release of my fic Twisted Revenge (coming back soon) and she sent me this masterpiece.
If this isn't a good advertisement for the angst and darkness awaiting you, I don't know what is.

My first WIP long-fic 'Twisted Revenge' (which I scrubbed from my profile) is coming back... eventually.
For those of you who read it, you know it's quite dark (and nsfw), but you also know... it wasn't very well written đ
So, because of this, I am doing a full re-write. (As well as re-writing the earlier chapters of 'When You See Me' and writing the new chapters.)
Obviously this will take time, and I am quite adamant that I need beta-readers for every chapter 𤣠but I did want to assure those who did care about that fic that it is coming back.
The draft Chapter 1 is officially finished and will be released to beta-readers (should they have time and want toâof course) very soon!
Thank you for all of your patience! And thank you to the people who cared about that fic enough to remember it and want it back đĽšđŤśđ
I had this idea for a lil itty bitty chart and figured what the hell 𤪠What's your MC's strengths, weaknesses? What's their special move in combat? It could be anything, from an Ancient Magic move to a specific spell, or even some psycological trick that works on Ashwinders every time.
No pressure tags and other blank chart options under the cut! Even if you weren't tagged, don't hesitate to jump in! JUST TAG ME I WANNA SEE UR BLORBIES đšđšđš
Thanks for the tag @blue-birdie612 đđ sorry it took me a while to get back to thisđ
THE FIGHTERS ARE READY!! CHOOSE YOUR CHARACTER
*outlined circles are the AUs where they have Ancient Magic
ART NOT BY ME: I was too lazy to go searching for good pics of my BBs in my photo album so I pulled some from their Pinterest boards insteadđ provided links down below :3
Thank you so much to @blue-birdie612 for making this character sheet!! And another bit thank you to my girlies @creampuffcloudsdreaming & @lyra-prag for tagging me and wanting to know more about my girl Lily!!
Art below is by @izaya-art
I haven't thought much about Elizabeth's "special move" beyond the Ancient Magic roll & throw, so it was really fun to come up with something that felt like her!
It's cruel, almostâhow life has a habit of reminding you of everything you've lost while following your own path... of the one creature you could never tame.
CREDITS: OC Lina Breen belongs to the amazingly talented and wonderful @dzukika. Thank you for showing my girly Lily so much love 𫶠I hope I did your girly justice 𼚠(just for reference... they didn't know I was doing this đ) Includes special guest appearance from @rvchelking 's beautiful Aliria McLeary also đđˇ Thank you so much for answering all my questions AND beta-reading/editing too đŤś

Collecting payments was not always the simple task it should have been, but Lina Breen never seemed daunted by places such as these.
She strode through the camp, seemingly unaffected by the cold as she twirled her dagger between her fingers. It was a busy, wretched smelling place for poachers and dark wizards alike, nestled in the ruins of a once great castle on the Manor Cape.
She neednât be here for long though, at least.
She was looking for one man, Abram Carlisle.
He wasnât a particularly clever man, nor talented or fearsome, but he had wealth... and information.
âAh, just in time,â Abram hiccupped, stumbling toward Lina and dropping his empty bottle of fire-whiskey onto the dirt below.
Lina inspected the bottle as it rolled.
At least he had good taste.
Abram reached into his pocket, procuring a small but heavy hessian sack; its fabric straining with the weight of many galleons.
        âThis oughtâhicâto suffice.â
With no shred of grace, Abram dropped the sack of galleons into Linaâs hand before gesturing toward a large tent at the back of the campâclosest to the crumbling outer walls of the castle.
âThat Hungarian Horntail you enquired about,â Abram started walking, letting Lina follow close behind.
The way Lina walked was... commanding. Confident and effortlessly imposing in a way a man like Carlisle could never quite manage.
âMy poachers had located its nest as youâd asked. However, when they arrived there was a... complication.â
Linaâs brow furrowed; she clutched the hilt of her blade. âComplication or not, Carlisle, my services are not free.â
âWhich is exactly why I corrected it.â Abram opened one side of the canvas flap of the tent for Lina.
With a mocking smirk, she shoved aside the opposite flap and breezed past him.
When she walked in though, her smirk dropped in an instant.
âAs it happens, those dragons you wanted had been re-homed.â Abram stumbled further into the candlelit tent.
There were only two other men in thereâguards, Lina presumedâwho stood idle in the corners. At the centre of the room though, a young woman; head down with her limbs bound by rope to a rickety wooden chair. Her hair: a long waterfall-like mess of wild copper curls adorned with twigs and leaves.
âYou want those dragons?â Abramâs hand fisted into the young womanâs hair, wrenching her head back cruelly enough to make her hiss and groan at the pain.
Linaâs blood turned to ice.
Elizabeth Quinn.
Of course it was.
She was barely conscious. Her face was bloodied and bruised; dirtied from what had no doubt been an unfair fight. Her hair was no longer braided like Lina remembered eitherânot that it seemed to be her choice.
âYouâll have to ask her.â Abram shoved Elizabethâs head back down with brute forceâenough to make the chair creak beneath her. âWe thought a witch with your...â he sucked in a sharp breath, choosing his next words with caution, âtalents... might have more effective ways of getting this little witch to talk.â
His eyes flickered suggestively to Linaâs dagger.
Bastard.
âAre you suggesting I interrogate her for you, Carlisle?â Lina sneered. âOne should think you owe me enough for your fuck up.â
Abram scoffed. âI made no promises as to whatâhicâcondition youâd receive your information in; I just promisedâhicâinformation. But Iâm not letting you walk out of here with my precious prisoner, if that is what youâre suggesting.â
âOh,â Lina took a step forward, a wicked smirk tugging at her lips as she spoke, âit is exactly what Iâm expecting.â She corrected him. âYou told me you would tell me where to find that nest. You couldnât even do that... so Iâm taking the âinformationâ.â
Abramâs hand tightened around Elizabethâs chair. âOh no,â he shook his head, âthis bitch has cost me far too much in lost beasts to just hand overââ
In a blinding haze of blue light, Lina surged forwardâswift and lethal. The blade of her dagger pressed into his throat.
âI would consider your next words very carefully, Carlisle.â
The guards in the corner of the room stepped forward, but Lina had her wand trained on them in an instant.
âYouâre making a mistake, Breen.â Abram croaked, trying to covertly reach for his wand.
It only made her push her dagger in harder.Â
Abram swallowed.
âA mistake, is it?â Linaâs eyes flashed with a glint bordering on crazed.
Before Abram could cast a single spell against her, thick enchanted ropes wrapped around all three menâs legs like hungry tendrils of devilâs snare.
All three of them screeched as the ropes dragged them mercilessly across the tarps, then up.
The trio of goons groaned as their heads bounced off one another with a comedic thunk. They were bound by their ankles to the wooden beams of the tent.
        âYou littleâ urgh!â
Growing tired of his pathetic wining, Linaâs fist cracked into Abramâs cheek, knocking him unconscious. She couldnât help but cackle at the manâs expression. Mouth agape like a panting Dugbog in summer.
His subordinate idiots beside him panicked, flailing about as they tried to reach their wands.
Morons. They were already on the dirt below.
Lina grabbed the back of their heads and yanked them closer, knocking them into each other to stop their incessant whining.
Like bats from a cave, all of them hung by their feet.
Lina turned back to Elizabeth pointing her wand for the enchanted binds.
        âDiffindo.â
Elizabeth landed with a soft oof, one arm hanging bonelessly over Linaâs shoulders as her legs threatened to buckle.
âLina?â Elizabeth croaked, blinking several times. It looked as if it were painful just to keep her eyes open.
âEvening, Little Fox.â Lina grunted as she tried to pull Elizabeth higher onto her chest. âCan you stand?â
        âI canât seeââ
âNot what I asked,â Lina smirked, helping Elizabeth to her feet, giving her a moment to test her legs.
Though she tried to laugh, Elizabeth hissed as her feet met the ground. If it was pain or numbness, Lina wasnât quite sure, but she tried to stand anyway.
All she knew was that Elizabeth couldnât disapparate like this.
Fightingâalthough it was tempting, given how much she loathed the people who âworkedâ hereâwasnât an option. Elizabeth was far too weak, and Lina refused to risk making it worse.
Confident healer or not, this was beyond her.
âSo,â Elizabeth sucked in a sharp breath as she tried to smirk, âdo you come here often?â
Lina scoffed at her comment, wrapping an arm around Elizabethâs back. âShut up.â
A pained wheezeâan attempted chuckleâescaped Elizabeth, but it only made her wince.
Lina tried to take a step forward with Elizabeth, but Elizabethâs feet failed beneath her. She almost sent them both tumbling.
âFuck,â Lina held them both up, but it was a struggle, âany ideas on how to get out of here, Little Fox?â
No response. Elizabethâs eyes rolled back.
âLily?â Lina nudged Elizabeth with her shoulder, coaxing her from the brink unconsciousness.
Pain stole Elizabethâs breath, one hand clutching her stomach as she exhaled sharply. âFloo network,â she panted, âthereâs aâhissâfireplace in the castle.â Elizabeth gestured weakly to another exit. âThrough there,â her head rolled onto Linaâs arm, âitâsâahâquiet⌠should be⌠safe.â
âAlright,â Lina reached for her wand, âdo you trust me?â
Elizabethâs head lifted.
Lina knew why.
It was a question far deeper than it should have been.
Trust. The idea was almost laughable given their history. They hadnât seen each other since Hogwarts, and their time had been... turbulent, at best.
But as their eyes met, as silver met larimar, Lina felt that shift.
âYes,â Elizabeth breathed. Her voice weak but sure. âI trust you.â
Lina stilled, staring into those glassy eyes she remembered so well, like she hadnât expected that answer.
Without another word, Lina pointed her wand at Elizabeth.
        âMobilicorpus.â
Elizabeth sighed deeply as her body was lifted from the ground, levitating at Linaâs waist height. Lina moved her to let her lay back. It was the most comfortable position she could think ofâdespite knowing Elizabethâs limbs would hang limply beside her.
âLooking good, Little Fox. I should have had you on your back for me years ago.â
Elizabeth let out a short, amused breath as they started moving, her body following Linaâs out of that Godsforesaken tent.
Lina pushed the flap of the tent aside.
Thank Merlin Elizabeth had been right.
There was a small breach in the stone castle, a hole large enough to climbâor levitateâthrough.
âAlright Fox, where is this fireplace?â
Lina turned back to Elizabeth for a response.
She was unconscious, barely breathing.
Shit.
Linaâs eyes widened as she went to check for her pulse, pressing two fingers to her neck.
It was weak.Â
She was cold.
âDamn you, Quinn!â Lina cursed, looking left and right through the ruins.
She felt a gust of wind from the right.
Left it is.
She paced through the decrepit hall at speed, keeping Elizabeth close to her hip before finallyâfinallyâshe saw it. A fireplace at the far end of a former dining hall.
Lina ducked inside of the fireplace first, crouching onto the ash before letting Elizabeth float over her knees, cradling her body in her arms.
There was only one place she could think of going. One person who could possibly help her fix this, and more importantly, know how to take care of her after this.
âBrocburrow.â Lina said urgently, letting their bodies be engulfed in a flash of green.
A harsh Scottish wind bit at Linaâs fingertips and cheeks as they arrivedâbut there was no time to waste.
Casting her spell over Elizabethâs limp body again, Lina trudged through the thin layers of snow to a small cottage just beyond the hamlet's centre.
Lina shamelessly pounded on the wooden door, determined to awaken anyone inside.
A great sigh of relief escaped her when firelight suddenly poured through the windows.
The door creaked open slowly, the smell of herbs washing over Lina, revealing a yawningâand highly agitatedâAliria McLeary.
Aliriaâs eyes met Linaâs first. She groaned.
âYouâd best have a very good excuse forââ Aliria gasped suddenly. All drowsiness disappeared from her face as her expression twisted into a horrified grimace. âCrivvens!â
Lina pushed through the doorway like she had so many times before. Elizabethâs body followed close behind.
        âIs thatâ?â
        âQuinn. Yes. Itâs her.â
Aliriaâs eyes scanned over Elizabethâs body.
âThe table,â Aliria pointed to the wooden preparation table in the middle of the kitchen before rushing to grab her wand, âput her on the table.â
Lina obliged, setting Elizabeth gently on the table, keeping one hand on the back of her head.
âWhat in Merlinâs name happened?!â Aliria exclaimed, checking Elizabethâs pulse.
âI donât know! I just found her like this!â Linaâs free hand gestured to the gashes in Elizabethâs clothes.
âFound âer?â Aliriaâs head snapped up.
Her Scottish lilt was always strongest when she was worried and tired.
        âWhere?!â
A wry smirk tugged at Linaâs lips.
Aliria didnât look impressed. âWhere?â She pressed as she started working on the injuries on Elizabethâs stomach.
Lina felt a seething rage bubbling deep within her chest at the sight. Elizabethâs abdomenâsoft and freckledâwas littered with cuts and bruises.
âLina,â Aliriaâs voice pulled her from her trance, âfar shelf to the right. The purple potion there. And the pipette.â
Lina turned, grabbing the purple liquidâand the Wiggenweld beside itâand setting them on the table beside Elizabethâs head.
Aliria grabbed the purple bottle and pipette; the kitchen was immediately filled with lavender and thyme. Slowly, she let the potion drip into Elizabethâs wounds.Â
It made Elizabeth flinch and writhe in her sleep.
âWhat are you doing?â Lina reached for Elizabethâs temple.
âCleaning her wounds. I can heal them after.â
        âAre you sure?â
Aliria scoffed, âAm I sure?â She echoed sarcastically and shook her head. âI am a healer, Lina. Of course I am sure.â
        âSo... sheâs alright?â
Aliria didnât respond, she only looked up at Lina for a split second before getting back to work.
A long moment passed before she finally spoke again:
âSheâs lucky you found her when you did, Lina.â
Lina looked back down at Elizabethâs freckled faceâpale and sunkenâbefore running a hand through the girlâs thick ginger curls.
âYou really are trouble, Little Fox.â
Despite Aliriaâs insisting, Lina refused to sleep on the couch. She stayed in the armchair in the guestroom by Elizabethâs bedside all night, only allowing herself to rest when she heard Elizabeth start to snore softly.
As beams of warm sunlight bled through the curtains, Linaâs head slowly lifted from the chair, her black hair tousled by her own restlessness.
She turned to Elizabeth.Â
She was still sleeping soundly, hugging one pillow on her side like a childhood toy.
Cute.
As if she could feel Linaâs eyes on her, Elizabeth stirred, her eyelashes fluttering as her eyes began to open.
She blinked once, twice, allowing her eyes to adjust. She held up one hand, blocking the light before pushing herself up.
âGood morning, Little Fox.â Lina leaned forward, one leg draped over the other, her head resting on her fist as she grinnedâsmug.
Elizabeth blinked again, finally lowering her hand to look at Lina.
Her lips parted in shock. Her lungsâand mindâseemed to fail her at that moment.Â
It only made Linaâs grin wider.
Lina stood, standing beside the bed, looking down at Elizabeth.
âYou know,â Lina smirked, âone would normally say thank you after being saved fromââ
Linaâs smirk vanished as she felt Elizabethâs warm hand on her wrist. Her touch was so⌠gentle.
âThank you,â Elizabeth smiled, letting a small huff of amusement escape her when she spoke again: âbruiser.âÂ
Ah, Linaâs smirk returned. So she did remember their nicknames. Though Lina was sure sheâd never heard it sound so pleasant, or grateful, for that matter.
As Elizabethâs hand began to slip away, Lina caught it with her own.
âItâs good to see you, Lily.â Linaâs smile softened.
âItâs good to see you too, Lina.â
For a moment, they let the silence hang in the air.
But, when Elizabeth tried to sit up more and push her back against the headboard, she hissed through her teeth and clutched her stomach with the hand that had been holding Linaâs.
Lina didnât know where the instinct came from, but within mere blink, she moved; wrapping one arm around Elizabethâs waist to lift her further up the headboard, the other hand under her knee farthest from her. âEasy, Little Foxââ
Linaâs head tilted upward, and she suddenly found herself much closer to Elizabeth than she thought she was. So close in fact, she could feel the heat radiating from Elizabethâs cheeks as a blush lit her freckled cheeks.
That blush made her eyes look even more blue.
âCareful, Quinn,â Linaâs lips curled teasingly, âyou might give me the wrong idea.â
Elizabethâs blush darkened even more.
Lina chuckled as she slowly let her hands drag their way off Elizabethâs leg and back.
âNowâŚâ Lina sat on the bed beside Elizabeth, âare you going to tell me how you ended up tied to that chair?â
Elizabeth laughed breathily, turning her head away for a moment.
âYou already know why.â Elizabeth turned her head back with a wry smile. âThey told me someone was looking for those dragons⌠they just didnât tell me who.â
âIâm not interested in that, Quinn.â Linaâs eyes traced the line of Elizabethâs jaw down to her neck and shoulders, counting every bruise, every scar. âIâm wondering how you managed to get caught.â
âHmm,â Elizabeth hummed, her smile slowly disappearing as memories visibly flashed in her eyes. âI uh,â she hesitated for a moment, âI went back to the nest because Iâd lost my locket when I was trying to move the dragons. The locket my parents gave me when I left for Hogwarts. It just so happened that those poachers were there at the same time andâŚâ
Elizabethâs eyes wandered over to the coatrack in the corner where her robes hung.
Lina looked at the robes, then at her. And again.
        âRight coat pocket.â Elizabeth sighed.
Lina sat upâalbeit reluctantlyâand tentatively reached into her coat pocket. When her hand settled on the item inside, it didnât take long to understand.Â
âOh,â Lina pulled Elizabethâs wandâsnapped in twoâout of the pocket.
âThey attacked me before I even saw them,â Elizabeth sighed.
It sounded like pure disbelief and frustration. Like she couldnât believe she let it happen. Like she blamed herself.
âI didnât even hear them coming. I wasnât even thinking about anything but that bloody locket.â Elizabeth held her head in her hands. âAll I remember is standing there one moment then⌠hitting the rocks. My wand shattered on impact.â
Lina placed her wand back into Elizabethâs pocket and slowly made her way back over.
But as she did⌠something caught the light. A flicker under Elizabethâs collar.
Lina reached for her, stopping just shy of Elizabethâs skin like she was asking for permission.
She didnât say no.
Linaâs hand pushed Elizabethâs collar away just slightly, and sure enoughâŚÂ
âYou almost died,â Lina laughed, pulling at the thin golden chain until the locket popped out from under her shirt, âfor this?â
âYou make it sound like I did it on purposeââ
Lina held up a hand to stop Elizabeth from talking any more than she already had. âIt is a great mystery how you are still alive.â
âWell,â Elizabeth reached out, plucking her locket from Linaâs hand, ânot so mysterious anymore now, is it?â
Elizabeth shook her head. There was a look of happy bewilderment on her face. âWhoâd have thought, the illusive Lina Breen coming to save my sorry arse.â
âPerhaps I just wanted you to owe me a favour.â Lina smirked devilishly.Â
Elizabethâs eyes thinned like she already knew what Lina was going to say.
Slowly, Elizabeth shook her head, looking up at Lina through her lashes with that cheeky smirk she always despised.
âYouâre not going to tell me where those dragons are, are you, Little Fox?â
Does Lily dearest have in game presets? Asking for a friend
A friend, you say?
Tell them I said that I'm excited by this ask... đ
Thank you very, very much Anon for asking... I'm genuinely a bit giddy đđźđđšđˇ
And the answer is... yes.
I've added the presets for you below, but just before that, there's just one thing I have to say about Lily's hair...
Lily's hair is not right in these screenshots.
I can only play HL on the PS5 (I'm a mac user for music) and there was a disappointing lack of curly/braided hairstyles in the base-game đ It's actually why I haven't posted any screenshots of Lily from the PS5 because her hair is such an important part of her character!! (i.e., she used to braid it with her mother every morning.)
For reference, Lily's hair is supposed to look like this hair-type (first row) in these styles (second row). (Don't mind the length/colours of the hairstylesâthey're just references/ideas from Pinterest. Lily has really long hair đ )
Anyway... here are her pre-sets!!!
Thank you so much anon! It was really exciting to see this ask today!! đĽšđâ¨đˇ
It would seem Sebastian has found Lily's new journal...
Modern AU Quillow (Elizabeth Quinn x Sebastian Sallow)
This is how he so lovingly depicts the love of his life, Elizabeth, in images he found (and printed) while waiting for her to return from her latest impromptu beast rescuing session.
He's mad because she went alone again. That's why he didn't bother to make it neat.

Thank you all so much for participating! 𫶠I genuinely loved seeing everyoneâs OCs, and if I could have drawn every single one of your little guys, I absolutely would have. Congratulations to the winners, and a special thank you to everyone who joined in and supported the raffle! đđđđđđ
Please give your lovely children a round of applause for being so adorable!!
Also just wanted to thank you all for the support while I was gone on hiatus, reading your texts made me feel so much better and made my day <3
a little tag game I thought would be cute to help share some fanfics! I wanna see your first interaction in fics between your love interests. Was it love at first sight? A massive hate fest? Or just an awkward teenage introduction lol?
of course, non writers can join in too. I wanna hear all your HCâs and brainrot, yap at me about how you think your characters met. (Even oc ships count or drawings or platonic ships or⌠you get the idea. I hate setting rules so there are none)
This is Seb and Maeveâs first interaction in fic. However, theyâve known each other for three years at that point. Iâve written it so they met when she beat him in the DADA duel in fifth year (somehow cos girlies spell casting is shit lmao) and heâs a bit sour about it. We donât see that though. The fic starts three years later and the fact heâs a slytherin, plays for her rival team in quidditch (and his position is to literally hit Bludgers at her head), and is an insufferable wind up, hasnât helped at all.
You can read âHow To Lose a Slytherin in 10 Daysâ on Wattpad and AO3 if youâd like to. Links in my master list
Thank you so much to @sage-pages for tagging me in this! I absolutely love this idea!
Since Sebastian and Elizabeth's first meeting is still underwraps (do not worry my loves, I assure you, it's coming đ) I give you their very cute reunion: an excerpt from Chapter Two (technically chapter three on ao3 because they still long have prologue options) of my long-fic When You See Me.
Elizabeth stepped further into the library. Slower now, more cautious.
Where could heâ Ah. Her gaze drifted to the right. The restricted section, of course.
Some things, it seemed, hadnât changed.
Her lips pressed together, curling at the edgesâalmost smiling.
She kept her footsteps lightâalmost silentâas she moved toward the restricted section.
There he was. Just as sheâd expected.
He lingered near the entrance to the restricted section, peering through the iron bars at the rows of books hidden behind them.
For a moment, Elizabeth didnât move, didnât speak... but a small smirk tugged at her lips when she realised: Scribner had taken the key to the restricted section out of her desk before the summerâhe couldnât get in. No spell he knew could break through Scribnerâs enchantment.
His sleeves were rolled slightly at the forearms, his posture familiarârelaxed, but not carelessâas he paced before the bars.
Focused, but unaware.
He looked... the same but different all at once.
His hair was slightly longer than she remembered, wisps of brown falling over his eyes, escaping their usual wave. There was something sharper in the set of his shoulders now too, something more contained. Less boyish now, moreâ
Elizabeth swallowed.
Am I making a mistake?
She spoke before she could think herself out of it: âTrying to get detention before the term even begins, Sallow?â
Sebastian froze; the air seemed to still.
He shifted, turning to face her fully now.
She could see it: the shift in his eyesâfrom recognitionâto something else entirely. Something she couldnât name.
âElizabeth.â Her name left him like it had been itching to leave.
Her chest tightened.
Gods, when he called her that...
Sebastianâs wide-eyed expression softened, a small smirk tugging at his lips as he finally responded to her little jab, âLike I said,â he took a small step forward, âit keeps me well rounded.â
Elizabeth wanted to smileâbut that tightness in her chest wouldnât let her.
Silence fell between them, thin and fragile.
âIââ Sebastianâs breath caught in his throat, âI didnât think youâd still be here.â
Elizabeth let out a small huffâsomething awfully close to a scoff. âWhere else would I be?â She fidgeted with her hands.
Sebastian looked as if he didnât quite know what to say.
It was infuriating.
âYou would have known if youâd written.â Elizabeth cleared her throat.
Sebastian hung his head, shoving his hands into his pockets. âI know.â
Another pause.
âWhy didnât you write?â Elizabeth frowned, looking up at him again.
His eyes widened at the question. âI did, well, I tried to. I didnât know where you were.â
âYou knew where Ominis was. He could have sent me your letters.â
âHe knew where you were?â Sebastianâs eyebrows furrowed.
âHe did,â she affirmed, taking one step closer. âYou disappeared, Sebastian. You could have been dead in a cave, and I would be none the wiser.â
        âBut Iâm notââ
        âBut you could have been.â
Sebastianâs body went rigid, a weak chuckle slipping through his lips as he tried to ease the tension. âI didnât know you cared so deeply for me.â
âSebastian.â His name sounded more like a curse than anything, her arms folded over her chest. âDo you have any idea just howââ She closed her eyes, forcing a sharp breath through her nose, âDo not do that again.â
Sebastian slowly dragged a hand through his hair. âI know,â he sighed, âIâm sorry.â
Sorry? Elizabethâs arms loosened; her lips parted slightly in confusion.
âI didnât know what to say,â he admitted, âevery time I tried to write to you it justââ His hand reached out, like she might have the words he couldnât find, âit didnât feel like enough.â
Elizabeth shifted, fingers curling against her sleeves. âDidnât feel like enough?â
âOf course not,â he took another step closer, âhow could it?â
Sebastian looked to the floor, kicking his foot lightly against the floor. âI thought about you on my travels. When I was searching for Anneâfor a cure. I kept thinking âwhat would Lily doâ, and honestly, it kept me alive,â he chuckled, âand out of trouble... mostly.â
Elizabeth let out a soft laugh despite the tightness in her chest. She looked down at her shoes, gripping her sleeves a little tighter. âWhen have my methods ever kept us out of trouble?â
        âHah! Youâve got a point.â
âSo thatâs what you were doing, huh?â Elizabeth looked up, that smile still lingering on her lips. âOminis will kill you when he finds outââ
âBut Iâve found something.â Sebastianâs eyes brightened with excitement and determination. âI have so much to tell you.â He reached into the pocket of his trousers, procuring a small journal. âIâve found some good leads this timeâreally good onesââ
âSebastianââ Elizabeth tried to interject, but he continued rambling.
âIâll need your helpâOminisâ tooâbut I need to find Anne.â He shifted restlessly. âI think it will work this timeââ He flicked through the book. âI found the diary of an old healer in an abandoned castle in Irelandââ
âIreland?â Elizabethâs head jolted forward in shock, both arms falling to her sides.
âYesâIreland. He used to work with curses, trying to reverse themââ
âHis work is really promising! All I have to do is findââ
âMerlin, Sebastian! Do you ever let the poor girl speak?â a voice called from behind Elizabeth, finally ending his rant.
Anne.
Sebastianâs eyes widened. He stopped breathing.
He blinked once. Twiceâ
        âAnne?â he breathed.
He looked as if heâd seen her ghost, his face pale, his hands trembling.
His journal fell from his hands, its thud echoing through the empty library.
Sebastian leapt forward, engulfing Anne in the tightest of hugs.
âSebastian,â Anne croaked, her face turning bright red, ââCanât breathe!â
Sebastian took a step back, his hands gripping Anneâs shoulders.Â
Elizabeth had never seen him look like this beforeâso wide-eyed and breathless as Sebastian studied his sisterâs face.
        âYouââ he panted, âyou lookââ
Anneâs brows furrowed, tears pooling in her eyes as she looked back at Sebastian. âBetter?â
Sebastianâs face twistedâhis expression shifting: elation then confusion, excitement then concern.
âH-how?â He finally found his words again. âHow did you do it?âÂ
Anneâs eyes flickered to Elizabeth, then Sebastian again.Â
Oh no.
Instead of answering, Anne simply pointed at Elizabeth.Â
Sebastian turnedâslow, his eyes blown wide as his hands slipped from Anneâs shoulders.
What if he hates me for this?
Elizabethâs eyes were locked on his, her body beginning to tremble under his gaze.
âSheâs been trying for months now. There isnât a day thatâs passed where she hasnât been studying.â Anneâs voice did little to soothe the growing tension.Â
He wouldnât stop staring.Â
âShe did it just this morning,â Anne added, raising her voice a little higher.
Silence.Â
Gods⌠He really does hate me.
The silence stretched.Â
Neither of them moved. Neither of them blinked.
Elizabethâs heart was pounding.Â
Faster, faster, faster.
She couldnât take it any longerâthe silence, the fear. She sucked in a sharp breath:
âSeb-Ah!â Elizabeth gasped as her feet suddenly left the ground, her body weightless as Sebastian lunged forward, lifting her.
His arms wrapped around Elizabethâs waist, his head tucked into her stomach as he spun.
Elizabeth couldnât help but laugh, her hands bracing on his shoulders to steady herself. She couldnât believe it.
She also couldnât believe how much taller heâd grown⌠Her eyes widening when she realised just how far she was from the floor.
When Sebastian stopped spinning, his hold on Elizabeth softened just enough to let her fall gently to the floor. But, before her feet could find the ground, his arms tightened again, stopping her when they were eye level, their noses mere inches apart.
Sebastian held her there just a moment too long before releasing her again. She didnât dare break eye contact with him, not even when her feet gently pressed into the floorboards.
Toes, then heelsâslow.
Before she could even think, he buried his head into the nape of her neck, his hands splayed across her back in another consuming embrace.
âThank you,â he breathed, voice shaking.
