Richard had been restless since arriving to the safe zone. The businessman was used to a specific routine and lifestyle that was shattered now that they were stuck in there. Though still a civillian, Richard continously tried to use his connections and money to get all the information on the current situation in and out of the safe zone, as well as getting whatever extra comfort he could for his wife and himself. "How is your meal?" Richard asked june with a tender tone, his usual sarcasm dripped voice nowhere to be found when he spoke to his wife, the love of his life.
"I managed to get us the freshest food they had." It had only costed him a pretty peny to seal that deal yet it was worth it. Perhaps he would do something like that for their sleeping space, as if they hadn't gotten the upgraded version already, get an extra of everything to make it more comfortable.
@lcvesickboy | JAHAE
" so ... what's the plan, pretty boy? you're going out on your own? you? oh man, they're going to eat you ALIVE. literally. "
maybe it was pity. maybe it was compassion from the deepest depths of his heart. maybe it was buyer's incentive. vito slides the handle of a switchblade into Jahae's hand.
" here's a gift from me to you ... because i think you're going to die without it. open it from here or else it'll swing out and slice your hand apart. pull this little lever to push the blade back in, but i'm sure you already know that, hero. "
Jaeha stared at him for a moment before he chose to return his attention to the bag he was preparing for his escapade, he barely understood english safe from some words yet he could understand the tone. And this one was one that screamed ignore...though it was easier said than done when something was placed in his hand.
A frown took over his features as he looked down to see a switchblade, his dark eyes returned to the person behind the unusual gift. That was a word he knew. "Why?" Not only the gift was something random but it was something useful against the undead, of course he would have prefered a gun but a knife wasn't bad, he had undergone training fight with it aswell. His fingers slided on the handle before putting it on his pocket just in case the man had a change of heart.
Part of him wanted to believe what the other man had to say was true, because that was how it should have worked - they should have been able to trust that the military was bringing in survivors. But Wes couldn't believe it. If that was true, surely his wife would've been here by now, surely they would have seen more of it... distrust was easier to embrace that the idea of starting to mourn.
"Does anyone really have the training to survive this?" Wes countered. It's not a strong argument by any means, but he did not need a reminder. He was in good shape, physically, but that only went so far against this threat. "My wife's out there. My daughter. What kind of man am I if all I do is sit on my hands and wait? Wouldn't you do everything you could for your family?" He wouldn't be able to live with himself if he didn't try.
Richard's eyebrow raised in desbelief at the question he had been asked, truly he had a hard time to believe someone would even have such question in the time they were living in. He was unsure if it was stupidity or ...well whatever other reason the other person might have to believe such thing. "Well, they are the ones with the guns and military training...I believe they know a thing or two more than we do." Annoyance dripped from his words, the answe was quite obvious in his eyes.
Family, now that was something Richard could understand. Yet, what he could not understand is how this person ended up here without them. Richard had traded many things for a safe travel for him and his wife, prioritizing her presense on the safe zone. "My wife is here, safe." He had done everything for that. "But if she was not, not even hell would be able to stop me from bringing her here."
@lcvesickboy for: whoever snuck out
well this didn't bode well. hamza had taken too quick a turn around a corner and found himself nearly stumbling into one of the undead. he hurried backwards and prayed his shoes scuffing on concrete wouldn't be enough to alert the person (yes, he still considered them people). it was only when a few moments passed and the growling didn't get any louder that he realized there was another person nearby. hamza jumped a little in surprise then put a hand to his chest before letting out a relieved breath. "you scared me. sheesh... thanks for not making any noise," he added quietly to the person. "there's one right around the corner."
Jaeha had his mind set in sneaking out. While he didn't plan on leaving the comfort of the safe zone for good just yet, he needed to explore the area if he ever intended on leaving. He still had to search for his girlfriend out there and find a way back home. Thanks to his time in the military, he was quick on his feet and silent on his steps as he moved around, avoiding those reasons that were meant to keep them inside. The undead
He noticed an uncoming undead, swearing under his breath as he avoided them. This would certainly be easier if he had a weapon. His eyes moved to the person already there, another one who had snuck out. "Shibal." He swore again on his mother tongue, fuck, they needed them gone if the two of them wanted to keep going. Jaeha picked a rock, heavy on his hand "Distraction?" Not speaking much english or even understanding it was a problem, he just hoped his new found company would understand his plan. "We throw far away." He whispered, hopefully the sound would guide that undead somewhere else.

where: in the safezone for: open (0/2)
"you've got to be kidding me..." sett mutters under their breath, shaking their head at the announcement, of course, sure, they're doing this to make sure people are safe, but one can be skeptic, yet they try to stay in the middle of it, complying to these new rules set for them, but to be this uptight...no one in or out, the curfew... "s'gonna drive people nuts, i'm telling you." sett turns to the person standing beside them, letting out a sigh, watching as the crowd disperses, going back to the things they were doing, yet whispers about the recent rules, complaints, can be heard. "what are you plans now?"
A sigh left his lips at the words of the person next to him, this was going to be a nuisance. He wasn't going to stop anyone from leaving, the more that left, the more resources left behind for him and his wife. Richard was a practical man after all, and had no problems in saying it. "my plans?" He asked, his plans were quite obvious for him as he wouldn't even entertain the idea of leaving the safe zone like that, without the promise of another safe place to be? Never. "I'm going back to my tent." Richard shared. "Any idea of leaving is foolish...to not say plainly stupid." Why run to a certain death? He couldn't understand.
in the safe zone open starter
A curfew was reasonable- Erika wouldn't want people to be wandering around at night either. However, closing off the gates entirely was unacceptable. Keeping everyone contained wasn't going to last as a permanent solution and adding more restrictions only put stress on the people inside. She needed to find a way out before that happened; or if her son was refused entry, or if the front was overrun, or any other goddamned reason she felt like leaving.
"These guys are stressed. They'll start being suspicious of everyone soon." she keeps her tone light and casual, not wanting to catch a guard's ear. It shouldn't be strange for a couple of people to be chatting together, but this place could head toward a riot, fast. "No, no, don't look at them. Just keep talking to me like normal."
Richard couldn't understand why someone would want to leave, to face whatever awaited them behind the safety of the zone they were in and head to the unknown, where the most likely outcome was to die. The businessman was someone realistic, practical in his views that wasn't easily swayed by the could be's. To him it was a death wish many were so eager to face.
He had been ignoring those foolish enough to believe they could last a day out without any training, without any protection other than their positive thoughts and no braincells. Richard hummed in agreement not realizing they were thinking of different people when talking about the stress, in his eyes, the ones distrusting were the civillians wanting a way out. "This will just blow them in their face." Richard said as he looked in the direction where a group was with a soldier not so far from them. Leaving wasn't the great option they all thought to be. He frowned at her words, why would anyone care if he was staring? They were the ones talking about leaving as if it was something smart to do, he believed they wouldn't even notice his judging stare.

timing: right after announcement ( plot drop one! )
the sun felt bright when reappearing outside the hospital area of the small safe zone, causing saerom's eyes to squint out of slight irritation. her hand rose to rest her wrist against her brows as she created a temporary shield for her eyes, though they still squint as she'd blink to get used to seeing the surroundings. there were a bandage across her forehead to keep her wound and stitches wrapped, at least it was no longer bleeding. a sudden intake of air as she did her best to not get overwhelmed by the surroundings about her, the crowd of people that had gathered to listen to the announcement. the foreign words hitting her ears weren't making too much sense, but she knew that curfew meant something like a bedtime, and then some of the people around her were talking of leaving? why would people want to leave? she wanted to understand that part, weren't they safe, where ever they were? concerned brows furrow in placement as she turned her head at first, before deciding to try and approach someone that was near her. "..hello?" her tone was quiet, and they didn't seem to hear her as she lingered a little longer before removing herself from their side to hug her ribcage some. where did she go? dark hues shifted among the faces for one in particular, a woman who's name is taylor - however, a sudden familiar face caught her attention when her heart began to slowly race, the longer she stared. who is that? saerom let out a very tender breath as if it was knocked out of her, the familiar rattling against her ribcage starting up and she couldn't dare to look away from him. the sight of him was like a mesmerizing scene before her, a sense of longing of some sort and she wished she could understand why there was a part of her desperately wanting to reach for him in that moment.
Jahea usually didn't attend most of the announcements meetings that the military had once in a while to keep them on the loop, unless it was something important. The man wasn't fluent in the language and if he was only going to pick up a word or two and wait for hyejin to translate for him, he might aswell do something else in the meantime yet this time he had been right there. Standing between the survivors in the safe zone with one word repeating on his head over and over again once this was done, leave.
It wasn't that he wanted to leave the safety but he needed to. His fingers gently traced the ribbon tied tightly around his wrist, the only thing left he had from his girlfriend who was out there, and he was going to find her. She was skilled enough to survive, so he was sure she was out there...somewhere, alive. She had to be alive. His mind already set as mental preparations were being made.
Jaeha turned around, ready to leave for his tent. To pack whatever little he had when he saw her... A scene that he had seen so many times in his dreams, in the day. Her standing right in front of him. Alive. A scene that made him wary of his own eyes from the times his mind had played him tricks of finding her, of wishing for her. "Saerom-ah." Her name left his lips like a prayer, frozen in his place as his eyes watered with hope and only when his body finally reacted he rushed to her side, his hand moving to cup her cheek. With a sob racking though his body when he finally touched her and she didn't disappear like all those dreams. She was real. "Saerom-ah" He repeated the name he had been calling for weeks. She was here.

Trapped? The announcement, and the dissent of it all, was still ringing loud in Wes' ears. He had been here by a stroke of luck to get it all set up, his office not far... but his wife, his daughter, did not share the same fate. No part of him desired the danger of being outside, but he knew that he would not be able to live with himself if he didn't do everything that he could to try and find them, to bring them back here... if they were still out there. He couldn't allow himself to think that way, if. They had to be.
"This is unconscionable," he remarked with a shake of his head, frown deepening across his expression. "Do they really expect us to just be okay with this? There are people out there - good, fine people - who they're fine with just damning?"
Richard eyed those who were quick to fight the military, eyes rolling in annoyance at the disruptor and chaos that was sure to follow those who were stupid enough to believe that they could last out there without the help of the military. The businessman was about to turn around, ready to head back to his space when someone near him spoke asking a question.
"It's their job to bring them here, not ours." the man spoke with nonchalance, easy to do so when his family was in the safety of the protected zone, though Richard had never been the one to care about others either way and he wasn't about to start in the damn apocalypsis. "Do you have the training they do to survive out there? To be of help instead of going head first to your dead?"

timing: 10pm / day of announcement + right after ( plot drop one! )
after managing to find sohee to talk about it, she wasn't able to find jaeha anywhere of his usual spots. causing the other to spur into a sprint to go through them once more, until she came to the last spot that she remembered another spot that she would usually meet with him in. "you're so stupid, hyejin." she spat in frustration beneath her breath, turning to make her way through that direction. it was more easier than most thought to slip through things with ease, to wound up in a secret place and that was exactly where they ended up in. "jaeha?" she breathed, more quiet than she admitted when walking further into the room.
Jahea tended to miss most of the announcements, after all he could only catch up some few words until Hyejin or Sohee translated it for him. This time had been one of the few times he had attended and there was one word that was resonating in his head ever since. Leave. He understood that one and his mind was made up in that instant. Jaeha had been sitting on the ground, bag in his feet when hyeji found him, fiddling with the ribbon tied on his wrist. "Oh, hyejin." He greeted as he stood up. Doe eyes staring at her. "What did they say?" He asked, while he was set in leaving, he still wanted to know the full extent of the conversation.
