On the 27th of Nov Google released a Chrome extension - Google Voice Search Hotword - that enables voice search from a desktop.
With the extension installed, voice search works just like it does on the Nexus 5. When Google.com is open, just say "Ok Google" and then your search request.
The hotword even works when you're already on a search page enabling never-ending dialog with Voice Search Engine. You can just say "Ok Google" again and search for something else.

When all the standard vimeo player elements are disabled, a centred pause/play button is the only control left (visible while hovering on video). But now it works not only as an on/off switcher but serves as a progress bar, communicating a video download status / location time-wise during a video playback.

The purpose of user experience design is to create personal value. We’re not here to reduce risk. We’re not here to massage conversion rates. We’re here to make things that improve people’s lives. In doing so, our companies profit in both senses of the word. It’s insufficient to judge our industry by the ROI we generate, or our contribution toward GDP. We should judge our industry by the happiness we create.

Maps zooming on your iPhone
Usually you have to pinch and zoom with one hand while holding your phone with the other, but not with Google maps and its zooming gesture that only requires one hand and one finger.
Here’s how it works:
Double tap the screen, but hold your finger down on the second tap. Then slide your finger up and down to zoom.

Alternative character picker for the browser
Quentin from TOKI WOKI has built a JavaScript character picker that works much the same way as the pickers on mobile devices do: hold down a key and you’ll be presented with alternatives.
Here is the demo
