Moab Trip Wrap Up
It was 3:17am when I woke up to make it to the airport by 5am for a 6:20am flight to Salt Lake City. Â I wasn't nearly close to being awake, but I shuffled out of bed in the shower and off to the airport. Â This was Thursday and it was a travel day, no riding bikes this day. Â Flight and drive was easy. Â We were at our house by 3pm and off to the bike shop to pick up our bikes. Â We got the bikes and patiently waited until the next day to ride what is called the "MTB MECA" aka Moab. Here we are waiting for Friday to arrive. https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/777/21251867073_2842637b52_c.jpg Friday arrives and we're off to ride Big Mesa. Â Roughly 25 miles outside of the town of Moab. Â Pretty tame trail. Â It was a good warmup to what was to come on Saturday - Whole Enchilada. https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/780/21706290988_34ea8fd6c0_c.jpg Tim, trying to clear a tricky section. https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/734/21707340009_e448d585a0_c.jpg Waiting for a regroup. https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/754/21271523044_c8b69973a9_c.jpg We ended Friday with a BBQ at home, some beers and a good cheers and lots of looking over the map. https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/726/21276912374_96b503172e_c.jpg It's Saturday... Â and I was in a lot of pain. Â I couldn't get my knee pain to calm down. Â (battling torn meniscus) so I opted to back out of Whole Enchilada and I'm still bummed about that, but in the end it was the right thing to do. So I went on a solo hike. https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5676/21732414890_8f675c1b6f_c.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/765/21893595146_687731ac3c_c.jpg https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5728/21930198351_3bf85854d1_c.jpg Saturday ends uneventful. Â We all met up at McStiff's for a few pints and dinner and get to hear the stories about Whole Enchilada. Â Sounds like it was a wonderful ride. Sunday comes and I get to ride! Â And it turns out it was my favorite trail of the trip so not all is lost. Â We headed to Amasa Back area and hit Capt. Ahab. Â What a great trail and what a great trail system. Â The views were absolutely beautiful. Â Met some new friends for future adventures with. Â Looking forward to returning to Moab with a healthier knee to explore more of the trails. LB
