CW: This story has mentions of blood/burn marks/the main character trying to kill the reader.(unsuccessfully, the reader doesn't die.) Long ago, there once lived a witch in an small village by the forest. The people of the village really respected the witch and her family, for they had taken care of the forest and their inhabitants for generations..and now, Y/N was the one who had taken over this responsibility after her mother passed a few years back.

"Are you feeling better today- Mr smith?"

I asked the village Hunter while checking the bandages on his arm, there had been more animals attacks in the forest lately. Which was..unusual to say the least.

"I'm quite alright now, dear. But..are you sure you don't want to stay inside the village? I know you like working at your house in the forest- but it's dangerous to be outside the village now."

I look at Mr smith for a moment..before continuing to change his bandages.

"I'll be alright, I've lived in that house for years..staying anywhere else would just give me more anxiety then the animals attacks."

I say playfully with a smile while Mr smith sighed in exhaustion.

"You're too stubborn for your own good Y/N...just be careful out there. alright?"

"Don't worry, I will be."

I say to Mr smith, before I left to do my regular checkups on the other villagers. And after a few hours when it was almost night-time..I made my way back home.

Back at the witch's hut.

"This spell is finally complete..my god, it took me ages to find the right spell.."

I grumble to myself while sitting on the floor..the spell circle was almost complete, it didn't look the best but..it was all I could do with the limited amount of spell books I had.

"A spell that can give you the ability to understand animals..who would have thought I had something like this?

I say while picking up the really old spell book and looking it over one last time.

"Now, I just have to stand inside the circle and erase the outer line..doing this spell is actually pretty easy! Finding it was the hard part-"

...."!".....

"....What was that sound?"

...."!"...."!"....

I heard it again- closer this time..something was definitely outside of my hut, something BIG.

"What is that..!?"

I whisper to myself while quickly stepping out of the spell circle, I quietly look outside the window..was it a Hunter from the village? Or just another animal?..

"I don't see anything on this side..maybe I should look through the other window-"

...I didn't even have the time to finish my sentence. As a loud "CRASH!" range throughout the small hut..my blood ran cold as I turned around and saw..two eyes staring right back at me.

"..."

I stayed completely still, I couldn't even believe my eyes. it was a Tiger...And it looked SAVAGE. It was GROWLING and it's eyes were locked onto me...I had to think quickly.

I kept my hands up on the side of my head and looked it straight in it's eyes..

"easy there.."

I had to make my way back into the circle and finish the spell..maybe if I could understand the Tiger and talk to it- I could survive this encounter..but before I could even take another step- the Tiger ATTACKED me.

"AHHH!!"

I screamed and barely managed to dodge the attack- my leg got scratched and was starting to bleed as I fell down on the floor..I quickly try to get up again and notice the Tiger..hobbling?

"H-Huh?.."

The Tiger also seemed to struggle to get it's footing, and I noticed that one of it's front legs was badly burnt..but I didn't have the time to think how that happened as the Tiger suddenly ran at me again-

"WAIT!-"

I screamed and put my arms in front of my face. then suddenly-

"POOF!"

An blinding light completely filled up the small hut..before everything went quiet.

"..w-what happened..?"

I say as I move away my arms from my face..I was still alive? But what about that Tiger?-

"GASP!"

My eyes widen as I finally notice the man laying in the middle of the spell circle..that Tiger ran into the spell circle and accidentally activated it!-

"B-But why did the Tiger turn into a human man..!? Wasn't this spell used to understand animals?"

I was flabbergasted. But it only took a few moments before everything clicked for me..

"...that spell would've turned me into an animal, and that's how I would've been able to "understand" them.."

...No wonder the spell book from which this spell was from, looked so old and unused..and I thought I could use this to find out why the animals were attacking the villagers.

"Well..atleast this spell saved me from that Tiger, I wonder if it was the Tiger who was attacking the villagers?"

I mumble to myself while standing up with a small hiss and slowly walking over to that Tiger- well, now turned into a man.

"I suppose the spell worked in reverse since it was an animal who went into the circle and activated it."

I say while looking down at the man...yup, it was the same Tiger who attacked me. The man had the same burns on his hand..wonder how he got them as a Tiger.

"Hello..? Please don't tell me you died the moment you turned into an human-"

...it happened so fast that I didn't even have the time to react, a large hand wrapped itself around my throat and SLAMMED me against the wall- all of the air in my lungs rushed out of me in an instant.

"Gasp!- what are you..!?"

"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME?!"

"YOU USELESS HUMAN!"

My heart stopped just like my breath...shit.

Human or not..this is the same animal who came into my house to KILL me.

"p-please listen to me for a moment-"

"WHY SHOULD I!?"

"YOU. TURNED ME INTO THIS DISGUSTING FORM!"

I cough and desperately struggle against his death grip around my throat, my vision was slowly starting to become blurry-

"FIRST YOU HUMANS BURN ME- AND NOW EVEN TURN ME INTO YOUR DISGUSTING SPECIES-"

"I SHOULD JUST KILL YOU!"

"IF YOU KILL ME YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO TURN BACK INTO YOUR ORIGINAL FORM!!!"

I managed to scream out those words..and that seemed to finally snap him out of his blood lust for a moment.

"...what?"

"I-If you kill me..you won't be able to change back, only I know how to reverse this spell."

That was a lie. even I don't know how to reverse this spell...but I have to do whatever I can to stay alive.

"..."

"J-Just please let me go..I promise I'll turn you back into your original form.."

"...Fine."

He let goes of my throat and I fell down into an heap on the floor, coughing and gasping for air as he looks down at me with a stoic expression..

"How long will it take?"

"..I-I don't know, but I will try my best to do it fast."

"Tch..do it as quickly as possible, I won't kill you in the meantime."

I let out a small sigh of relief..before flinching as he suddenly leans down and grabs my face with his burnt hand.

"But if I ever find out you're deceiving me..I won't hesitate to kill you. Do you understand?"

His voice send shivers down my spine..he wasn't joking.

"..I-I understand. I promise I'll turn you back as quickly as I can.."

"Good."

With that, he let goes of my face and walks out of the small hut.

"H-Hey..! Where are you even going now?"

"I'm not going anywhere, but I'm not going to be sleeping inside of a human made house..I'm sleeping outside."

He says the word "human" like an insult, before disappearing out of the hut..what the fuck did I get myself into?
