Please feel free to add more learning focused websites.Â
*There are a lot more learning websites out there, but I picked the ones that are, as far as Iâm aware, completely free and in my opinion the best/ most useful.
Renshuu is the best language learning website I have ever used. It is for Japanese specifically. Everything about it is so well-constructed, intuitive, helpful, and fun. Adding to that, it has a truly ungodly breadth of contentâusers are allowed to add words, phrases, mnemonics, etc., and the number of activities you can do just on an unpaid account is multiple times more than what I could do on Memrise premium.
Renshuu is, to this day, the only learning site I have spent money on, because it gave me an absolutely complete experience without spending any money, and the unpaid content also gave me the necessary evidence to be sure that what I paid for would be worth it.
And it has been! Havenât learned any language as quickly as Iâm learning Japanese with Renshuu aloneâand Iâve had classes for Spanish and Korean, good ones.
Small things to do to be ready for the new year:
Put pictures from your phone on an external drive
Hand in bills to your insurance (if you need to do that)
Put your bills for your taxes for 2024 in one place
Clean your desk/ apartment/ house
Throw away things you don't need anymore-> give them away: maybe: decide on only one place to clean up; e.g. drawer, books, desk etc: don't think you have to clean up everything!
Put dates for the new year into a calendar
Big events/ important events for January? write them down and what you need to do before them
Reflect on this year: What were highlights? What were hard things that made you learn a lesson? What were things you do not want to repeat?
Vorfreude (=the joy of looking forward to something): note down things you're looking forward to/ books you're looking forward to read/ films/shows you're looking forward to watch/ other goals!
[Feel free to add on]

27.04.16 donât skive off school kids, unless you only have PE in the afternoon and there is a great coffeeshop round the corner to revise in
young me especially would have hated hearing this but networking is literally the most important thing you can do to improve your situation like forget economic barriers to education etc just keep making friends with different people and eventually someone will offer you a hand up just because they dig your vibe and that is exactly all that's happening when undeserving people surpass you anyway
When I look at how I survived my 20s, it was always helpful friends putting work my way. And often the helpful friends were people I had only known for weeks.
schools love to go on and on about networking but they do a shit job of teaching you how to do it.
networking isnt going to job fairs and accumulating a collection of business cards and having a good linkedin profile
networking is meeting someone on a dating app and even though you never get the chance to meet up irl you talk a bit on discord and they offer to help you job hunt because they have good technical writing skills and they really think youre cool
networking is meeting someone at a sports event and becoming friends and when you need a new place to live they already have a friend of theirs who just so happens to be looking for a new roommate
networking is joining a club and making really good friends with older members who just also happen to be good professional connections
"networking" is a term so poisoned and sanitized by capitalism that what it actually really is has been obscured in the minds of most people
networking is volunteering somewhere and talking to the other volunteers and people around and so you make friends that way and they get to know what you're like and then boom they find you a better job just 'cuz
Networking is joining a group that does whatever hobby you're into (outdoor activities, music group, games, writing, crafting, whatever). And while you're doing the thing with these people you see on a regular basis, you mention that you're looking for a job in X field and one of them has connections or advice to help with that.
one of my lecturers printed us a step-by-step guide to writing an essay for an assignment we had. i decided to type it up and share it with you guys. i think for the most part it is really useful and a super simple way to break down your essay. hope this helps :~)
i read atomic habits so you dont have to lol

Hi! I've followed for for a couple of years now, so it's nice to see you back! I'm moving to Germany for my master's in a couple of weeks and I was wondering if you have any tips for an Aussie living and working in Germany. Thanks!
Always double check you got the right train ticket for the time of day or those bitches will slap you with a 60⏠fine
Make sure youâve got cash on you at all times cause not everywhere accepts card
Buy a few packs of paracetamol and ibuprofen a the supermarket in Australia before you go cause you can only get that stuff at the pharmacy in Germany and itâs more expensive
Same with cough lollies, most of the German ones taste terrible imo, take some with you
Get in the habit of doing your groceries early on a Saturday cause the supermarkets in Germany close super early compared to Australia and everything is closed on Sunday. Also take a laundry basket to pack your stuff into cause you wonât have time to hold a bag open and pack it neatly.
Donât buy too much bread at once cause it doesnât have a very long shelf life
If youâre gonna get a new phone or computer, buy it here before you leave, itâs cheaper
Donât order water in a restaurant, you might as well get soft drink or juice anyway cause itâs almost as expensive
Stay out of the bike lane
Do your recycling
Donât throw away your receipts
Thanks and good luck! đ

Extracurriculars at Kingâs
Iâm finishing my blog for LLM Guide with two back-to-back posts. This one is my take on some extracurricular activities at Kingâs. Next post deals with my overall experience on Kingâs LLM.
Societies are a big thing at Kingâs â at least in normal years. They are a good way to meet new people. There are hundreds of societies ranging from activity and sports groups to academic ones. The LLM even has a dedicated society: the Postgraduate Law Society. This year there wasnât much activity. I was expecting more socials or networking events. But if you feel like making the LLM year amazing for everyone and gaining some leadership experience, you can apply for the Executive Committee. They always look for incoming LLM students around the summer to take up positions.
There are many other volunteering opportunities. I participated in some brainstorming sessions for Kingâs Climate Action Network, which was set up by Kingâs Sustainability Team. It is part of Kingâs effort to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2025. I was on the group for responsible investing. Apart from my contributions about ESG investing, I also learned a lot about how universities manage endowments. The biggest achievement this year was full divestment from fossil fuel investments.
I did some law review work for Kingâs Student Law Review. I didnât find this overly exciting. But itâs a good way to keep in touch with ongoing legal developments and to learn to be critical of legal writings. I mostly learned to give constructive and useful feedback.
Iâm currently still volunteering with the Human Rights and Environment Clinic at Kingâs Legal Clinic. I found this a good way to get out of my comfort zone and apply some of the legal skills Iâve learned in law school to newer topics, such as the law surrounding sustainability and climate change. There is also a general advice clinic and other specialist clinics, for example on IP law. Solicitors supervise the clinics and, in some cases, there is involvement of barristers and Kingâs own academic staff.
LLM students can participate in moot court competitions and represent Kingâs. I didnât do this because the time commitment can get quite intense around deadlines.
More academically, there is the possibility of auditing an additional LLM module, taking a language course at the Modern Language Centre or participating in Kingâs-wide courses. I followed the Associateship of Kingâs College and Inside Art and Science courses, which didnât require a lot of commitment but were nonetheless academically very enriching.
My tip for incoming LLM students is to keep a close eye on newsletters and have a look around Kingâs and the KCLSUâs website. Some extracurricular opportunities are not always very actively advertised or get lost in large amount of information you get.
30.07.21Â | went to the cafe last sunday to clear my head while planning the next (this) week and turns out it was a rlly good idea bc it was a super productive afternoon!
Got a lot of my Notion set up - though Iâm thinking of doing a bit of an overhaul this weekend - plus some handwriting practice bc my japanese writing is still super messy. I think Iâm gonna make it a weekly occurrence and head there again tomorrow bc it was v refreshing nd the chai latte was to die for.
