i yeet more pokemon at ya lot, this time with pokemon teams!!
the more i thought about this random pokemon au i made, the more i couldn't help but wonder and wonder more.... maybe even make an ask-blog for them... but gotta take it slow, one thing at a time
while i did give them teams, that doesn't mean they battle and are trainers to that degree. Instead they either keep running into each other or are journeying together, in which they run into numerous shenanigans amidst their travels: be it solving problems with people and Pokemon or finding hurt Pokemon in a disaster zone in nature.

Starting with Rue! A supposed traveling nurse that isn't like a typical Nurse Joy; rather he keeps a watchful eye on his surroundings wherever he travels in case of disasters such as wild fires and flooding.
His team consists of:
- A male Corviknight who's Hasty in nature. He was a gift from a long-time friend who takes care of bird-like Pokemon and has helped Rue traverse across land and sky ever since his evolution.
- A male Meowstic who's Timid in nature. Hatched from an egg Rue caught just moments before disaster could destroy it, Meowstic has kept to his trainer's side.
- A female Banette who's Rash in nature. She began following Rue when he began his travelings ever since encountering him as a Shuppet and has since been apart of his team.
- A male Umbreon who's Adamant in nature. Since joining Rue's team when he was a young boy, he promised his Umbreon that he can become a Sylveon. But upon one fateful night, dreams and promises broke and Rue felt at blame for Umbreon's current situation. (He doesn't blame him).
- A female Ampharos who's Relaxed in nature. Rue's very first companion in life, Ampharos now acts and is respected as a guardian to her new family having since retired from battling due to an irreversible accident on her tail's orb.
- A female Absol who's Gentle in nature. Rue's ace Pokemon, she helps Rue detect any upcoming disasters and nurturing injured Pokemon back to health.
And now Sonnet! Very passionate with his research and, while being an assistant to a professor, he travels to gain first-hand knowledge of the Pokemon they live alongside with. And, maybe, get to understand and watch their many mannerisms and habits beyond what's said in the textbooks.
His team consists of:
- A Rotom who's Hasty in nature. Having managed to outsmart them upon first meeting, the two were quick to bond and joined Sonnet's team right then and there.
- A Polteageist who's Jolly in nature. They watched when Sonnet argued with a scammer who was selling phony teapots in front of an antique shop upon his travels. In the end, he got out with an authentic teapot, alebit chipped. Even though they practically scared the living daylights out of him upon emerging from hiding, Polteageist happily tags along with Sonnet and co.
- A female Alcremie who's Gentle in nature. A gift from his mother when he was a young child, Sonnet has fondly called her his "late-night reading partner".
- A female Espeon who's Sassy in nature. Having evolved on a bright sunny day while laying in a peaceful field, the two of them playfully butt heads.
- A Bronzong who's Impish in nature. Sonnet's most recent newcomer, they often cross paths and played hide and seek with each other and the rest of Sonnet's team. When it came to Sonnet beginning his travels, they insisted on tagging along.
- A Metagross who's Adamant in nature. Sonnet's first caught Pokemon and his ace, they two practically became attached at the hip. Some might argue that with the two of them together, they're the smartest human-Pokemon duo there could ever be.

this is likely around the time when they first met and were butting heads and such. but before they begun their 1v1 battle, they placed bets:
sonnet bets that if he wins, the two of them have to travel together.
rue bets that if he wins, sonnet has to leave him alone.
( . . . ) and given the current circumstances, yall can probably tell who won that battle XD

i never planned any of their pokemon to be shiny in hindsight, but the night i was beginning to outline this i was listening to a video of shiny hunting and just... i got curious, was in the process of drawing meowstic, said why not and - ohp, goober's yellow, tis yoinks owo
as previously mentioned, meowstic hatched from an egg that rue managed to save, and i would like to imagine that meowstic then imprinted and got comfortable around him and ONLY him. anyone else, they're hiding behind him =w=
sonnet's polteageist on the other hand just came across sonnet who was calling out a scammer who was selling phony teapots and as thanks for shooing them off, he was given an actual antique teapot which the polteageist quickly attached to and became apart of his team while jumpscaring the living daylights out of sonnet (they were hiding and watching ^^)

anyways have a sonnet feeling intimidated by corviknight while rue is just confused why this little alcremie is looking at him with large beeg orb eyes of admiration =w=
both corviknight and alcremie were given to rue and sonnet as gifts but from different points in time!
- sonnet was given a milcery from his mother when he was just a little boy who'd rather spend his time reading books than fool around with other kids his age (which heavily worried his dear mother). so to hopefully remedy such, she gifts sonnet his very first pokemon milcery, and it's been them against the world all the way to him becoming a professor assistant. (small note to mention and a reminder for myself: alcremie's form is Mint Cream with Berry Sweet ^^)
- coming to the age where kids are old enough to begin their journeys, rue and his mareep begin their journey when they happened to cross paths with his friend, raven (cough cough wink wink nudge nudge-). in the end, she gifts him a little rookidee and bids him luck on his journey. thus rookidee becomes rue's second pokemon!
unrelated! i tried drawing them with height accuracy but just... rue and sonnet don't have a set height, AND NOT TO MENTION CORVIKNIGHT IS CANONICALLY 7'3" WHILE ALCREMIE'S 1'0" omo

some notes to mention!
- ampharos/mareep was a pokemon rue befriended as a child, way before he begun his journey.
- similarly, alcremie/milcery was a pokemon that was gifted to sonnet as a child by his mother before his journey. metagross/beldum would be considered his starter in this scenario
the reason why this timeline is completely different to how i set up their team in a previous post was because i came to notice that, in pokemon games, trainer's starter/first pokemon tend to be the very last they send out in battle (ex. leon and charizard, ESPECIALLY oleana and her garbodor despite the rest of her team consist of canonically(?) beautiful pokemon)
so i decided to carry that along with how I set up their teams, with their starters/ace to be the very last. (rue's ampharos is the exception in this situation)
and as a reminder: neither of them at present are trainers anymore! rue's become a traveling nurse for wild pokemon and acts like a scout in case of upcoming natural disasters that could possibly harm many more, meanwhile sonnet is a professor assistant with his own work when it comes to pokemon that decided to go a bit more hands-on with his research.
in this situation, rotom and banette (or rather shuppet during the time frame) would be rue and sonnet's second obtained pokemon!
aka i'm having a hard time trying to figure out the timeline of how their team came about... hmm...
eevee timmmeeeeeee YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEAAAANNSSSS
ANGST TIIIIMMMEEEE!!!

it was mentioned before BUUUUT basically i played along the trope of an eevee evolving into the wrong evolution.
tiptoe-ing about of this random au, rue promised that he'll evolve his eevee into a sylveon who was excited about it. but after some unfortunate events, everything culminated to one night when eevee was trying to help rue, he ended up evolving into an umbreon which broke rue even further because his promise to his eevee was evidently broken and cannot be undone.
in the end, rue blames himself that his eevee is now an umbreon which they're really REALLY trying to assure him that it's alright =w=
sonnet and his espeon? their chaotic braincells are forever colliding but in some way, espeon keeps sonnet humble in more ways than one, and if not than she repeatedly reminds him to take things easy ^^
when it comes to giving them human names, sage's was difficult for me because of several factors:
- canonically in-game, he's just known as his title "Sage of Truth"
- headcanon, we sometimes call him "Blueberry Milk" or something along the lines of "Blueberry [BLANK]"/"[BLANK] Milk"
- "Sage" in of itself IS a name! i have a very old OC who's name is sage but in the context of the plant
- i wanted their human name to be as similar as to their cookie names so that it's easily pieced who this human is, which brings me back to point one
- i took one look at s names and none of them caught my attention (even though the name "sage" also didn't but it was the most i could do -w-"")
and some parting words and probably an answer to the question "why that name"?:
it just felt right ^^!

I mentioned in a previous post about his ampharos and her accident, but i don't think i ever really explained it:
The way i do teams is their ace would be their last pokemon of their team, similar to how it is in the games (i think-). Ages ago, ampharos would've been rue's ace and starter, as well. but after her accident, he retired her from battling (albeit she insists that she can still battle). and now current rue has absol as his ace ^^

A "small doodle" of Recluse wearing glasses from my fic "Lonely Reliability" where he gained new glasses at the end!
And a bit of spoilers: the glasses were Sage's before he switched to wearing his monocle, so now it has a use again to help Recluse see (that's as vague as i could manage, but more context is in the fic. and also yes, sage owning these glasses previously is the sole reason why i gave it the pretty rim)
