It came with its perks. Some disadvantages at times, but those are some that are best not to be mentioned. What mattered was that they made the best out of their circumstances and they were at the top of their game.
Women were never a subject where they lacked, but it got to a point where they simply grew bored of girlfriends, flings and affairs. Besides, they were young. They had a long time till marriage and kids were to be a concern. The two doubted either family would allow their eternal bachelorâs behavior.
Although they had already left the reckless partying stage, they still indulged. They were never alone. Always surrounded by their group of friends, that they had also grown up with.

Summer was beginning to roll around when it happened. Sasuke was returning from a business conference when he crashed into someone in the airport. More accurately the first class lounge. He was ready to fire off an insult at whoever it was that had clashed onto him but once he got his eyes off of his phoneâs screen he was stunned silent.Â
âIâm so sorry. I shouldâve been looking where I was going but Iâm so nervous about the flight that my thoughts are consuming me.â The most beautiful woman he had ever had the pleasure of laying his eyes on rambled, bowing and continuously apologizing for something that was equally his fault. It had been a while since he had been this interested in a conversation with someone, and an even longer one since he had such a long conversation with a woman without it ending in rumpled sheets and labored breaths.Â
He learned a lot about this mystery woman. Well, he learned more than he was used to. For starters he learned that her name was Hinata. Had recently finished her PhD in biology and was flying back to her hometown for work.Â
Sasuke didnât believe in coincidences but funnily enough they were flying to the same destination.Â
And sitting right next to each other as well.Â
What was fated to be a boring two hour wait for a plane that had been delayed, became something so much more interesting.Â
He even found himself sharing personal details about himself. What he did for work. How he spent his free time. How close he was to his older brother and how he was now an uncle, and that his nephew and niece were his pride and joy. Even going as far as to show pictures of the two toddlers, something that he knew would make her swoon once she talked about her younger sister and how much she enjoyed having been able to take care of her as a baby.Â
The more she spoke, the more excited Sasuke got.Â
To him she was his new challenge.
Every time he fired off some random fact she offered two or three more about herself.
And the way she spoke⌠He could tell she came from money. From the way she carried herself, from her impeccable posture to how she articulated her answers.Â
âHow come Iâve never seen you around?â The fact that they were the same age, and both from Konoha but he had never seen or heard of her. And trust him. He would have noticed someone like her.
âWell, I lost my mother when I was very young. My father hated the idea of having us around at that time so he sent me and my sister to live with our uncle on the other side of the country.â It was a touchy subject. After another sip of her martini, she continued, only her focus seemed to be a bit off as she spoke. âWe saw him on important occasions, but never really bothered to go back to the capital. I liked growing up in that house. I do believe we wouldâve turned out much worse than we did if we hadnât.â Sasuke scoffed at that. She didnât seem bad. Much on the contrary.Â
Hinata let out a small giggle at that, as he had voiced that same thought. âThank you. But I mean it. I think if I had stayed I wouldnât be able to pursue my dreams and would be trapped in a life that my father figured would be best for us but at the same time not really.â His fingers found a strand of hair that had come loose and was quick to push it behind her ear. Her cheeks darkened a bit, they were already red from the drinks the two had been sharing for a while, but every time he came to physical contact with her it was as if the redness increased.
What was even cuter was when they found each other naked in her hotel room and stayed there the entire weekend.Â
But cute was definitely not the word Sasuke would use in this situation.
Although he liked to act nonchalantly and try and pose as aloof most times he was being oggled by women at the gym, Naruto definitely liked to be checked out by them and return the favour as well. He found himself itching to get to know more and more about the girl before he made a more obvious move towards her. Heâd been flirting his ass off the entire time and usually other girls would be begging him to take them. But of course, Hinata Hyuuga wasnât like any other girl.Â
Every time he made a move, sheâd politely laugh, wave him off and change the subject. But he knew it was mostly an act since her cheeks were permanently blush and they had left the gym a long time ago.
He found himself smirking when it was her asking to trade phone numbers and if they could meet up at the gym and train together. Naruto was more than happy to comply.Â

Cause, as you see, both Naruto and Sasuke had unwittingly found themselves in love with a certain someone who refused to acknowledge their relationships as actual relationships, leaving them to wonder if that's what all the girls they had been with felt like.
But all good things have to come to an end. And the same way they began they would eventually come crashing down in the form of the woman they couldnât shake their minds off coming down the stairs of the ballroom they were in, wearing a beautiful lavender dress that contrasted with her grey eyes in a captivating manner.Â
They both put down their drinks and moved at the same time, rushing to Hinata who was on her way to her father.
Before she could do so they both reached her at the same time.Â
âWell, hello!â She waved, smiling brilliantly at them, looking serene. âDidnât know you two were also in attendance.â Both Naruto and Sasuke looked from her to each other, metal gears slowly turning in their minds as both posed the same question. âDo you know him?âÂ
She laughed, patted their shoulders and moved to her fatherâs side, leaving them standing there, looking confused as hell and with several questions in their minds.Â
Then they returned to the bar and began spilling everything to each other.Â
One would think theyâd start hitting each other but they reached a common understanding that Hinata had been playing both at the same time. But then again she never said she was exclusive, leaving them even more confused.Â
Naruto was the first to speak up, after downing his new drink in one go. Telling Sasuke it was a shame that Hinata had played him but he was going to have to forgive his future wife if he wanted to be at attendance at their wedding.
Sasuke simply smirked and grabbed onto his best friendâs shoulder before he could leave. âAnd whoâs saying sheâs gonna be yours?â
Next thing you know, the two had come up with a bet. Whoever Hinata chose to officially present to her father as her boyfriend gained dibs and the other would have to settle as the best man at the other's wedding.
It took about another month or so before both Naruto and Sasuke realized that they had been played.Â

Afterwards, it was the three of them alone. Hinata was getting ready for her turn, practicing her shot and adjusting her sunglasses.Â
Naruto and Sasuke began arguing again, with the blond throwing the first punch.Â
Only after theyâd been rolling around in the grass for some time, and Hinata taking her shot did she decide to break them up.Â
Sasuke was the one who spoke up. âYou have to choose Hinata. Me or him.â the way he said that last word was so full of disgust that Naruto pushed in again.
âSheâs obviously gonna pick me you idiot.â Naruto said grinning and pointing at himself.Â
Hinata merely shook her head, laughing. Sasuke, annoyed, stood up and asked. âSo whatâs it gonna be?â
Naruto followed Sasuke and stood as well, the two men now crowding Hinata who continued smiling.
âOh!â The woman lowers her sunglasses, smirking playfully at him. âI donât mind sharing.â
