FMP Proposal
From my FMP I would like to gain a improved knowledge on the mu- sic industry, something that is key when starting up a record label. Wriggle records is a local run, new, independent record label. I have had the idea for setting up one, but have always struggle to find the time, so doing it for my FMP was the perfect time. Living in a four bed house with a basement on Wrigglesworth Street, there was only ever going to be one name for the parties and label... wriggle. Hosting parties in the intimate basement for nearly two years I thought there is a great opportunity for something here. When setting it up i wanted to make it as local as possible and really thrive o community spirit, something South London takes great pride in, so this would involve the records being cut and screen printed in Peckham and with all the producers living in SE I feel it has a great opportunity to connect with the community. Unlike many other labels I want to separate myself from them by design- ing sleeves with heavy imagery that all relates to the wriggle culture. I’m also going to use the time to test of what can be printed onto vinyl and see why it doesn’t happen more often. A range of designed merch from slipmats to t-shirts will also bring the brand together. By making a zine it gives me the opportunity to show- case other creativities work, that has taken place at wriggle. I feel that is also a nice friendly edge being able to promote the work of others, with the record label at the center of it. Overall I want to take the whole label seriously and see where it can get to.
