So today’s look is just a pattern disaster, I feel like the fresh prince mixed with Kim kardashian, mixed with Sloan Peterson from Ferris Beulers day off. It’s the beginning of a crazy month for me, so I thought I would spend the whole thing wearing crazy outfits to go along with it. I am graduating fashion school this month, along with planning 2 fashion show segments, styling a music video, working, and styling 2-4 different photo shoots on top of it all. 

It’s been quite warm lately in Raincouver, so I recently bought 3 pairs of vintage shorts. I must have jinxed myself because today’s weather friggin sucks. It’s rainy, gloomy, and chilly, but that clearly didn’t stop me from wearing what I wanted to wear! I thought that pairing a thigh high boot and a long sleeved shirt was the perfect way to style my Fresh Prince shorts, yet still keep warmer than i would be in sandals and a tank top. Mixing patterns has definitely been big for me these past few months, as I am constantly trying to step further and further out of my comfort zone with my fashion choices. I’m very lucky to have such amazing vintage clothing surrounding me all the time. It never gets boring and there is always something new and interesting to try on.. or buy.

Anyways, as for the actual garments, I’ve got on a super cute little fake Louis Vuitton choker, which was made a couple of years ago by @yungemilyxx. You should check her out on Instagram! My shirt was a hand me down from my friend Tristan, but the brand is Stussy. I just love the graphic on this tee, It’s too cool. My shorts are from Community Thrift And Vintage in Gastown, and my boots are from Intervalle in Montreal. They are seriously the most comfortable boots I’ve ever worn in my life.

This week I’m gonna talk about being happy.

Last weekend, my friend Reece (@reecevoyer) and I went up on to the roof of my work and took a few photos of me just for kicks. I think that this shoot captured the most accurate representation of who I am as a person. I feel as though Im always giving the camera death glares whenever I get my photo taken. I never really let out the real me. I may just do it because I often feel awkward in front of a camera; I don’t really know for sure.

 I decided that I need to have more photos of me looking happy, so here are a few for ya. I spend so much time in my life smiling, and I’ve even heard from people through social media that I intimidate them. I promise you I’m not as scary as I may look. I really love meeting new people, and I could talk anyones ear off. My life is filled with a lot of positive things and even though this may sound ridiculous, I think it’s important that I portray that through my social media accounts. 

I’m so very grateful for all the friends I have and the support they give me through the career in fashion that I am working towards pursuing. I am also really content with the fact that I have a family that respects the fact that I want to work in a more creative environment rather than something academically based. Not saying that there are any issues with academically based careers, my brain just doesnt’t work that way!

I guess I just think it’s important for me to put it out there, and say that I’m a really happy person. I have an amazing life, and I am surrounded by beautifully crazy elements at all times. I couldn’t be more grateful for that.

Hey everyone! It’s Wednesday so it’s officially time for an outfit for you all!

I actually did a bit of research on the background of my bell bottom overalls because they’re one of the true true vintage pieces I have in my wardrobe. They are stained like crazy, and ripped up on the hem, but that just makes me love them even more for some strange reason. I’m probably just nuts. 

The label on my overalls says “GWG scrubbies”, so I am assuming they were used as some sort of carpentry, or painting attire based on the style, and the stains. Unfortunately, the only actual information I could get from the internet relating to my scrubbies was the fact that they were made in the 70′s. It sounds quite accurate seeing as “elephant pants” (denim bell bottoms) were a huge trend during the mid - late 70′s. I searched for further info regarding the brand “GWG” but all I found was a women’s hunting brand called “Girls with guns”, which didn’t really seem like it had anything to do with the 70′s trend at all.

Anyway, I will stop there, before I end up boring you too heavily with information regarding my overalls. The point that I was getting to is that BELL BOTTOMS ARE BACK!! Of course skinny jeans are still ruling the fashion industry, and I’m sure they will continue to do so for a while now, but I’m so excited to continue strutting around Vancouver in these wide legged statement making pantaloons. They are just so much fun! 

It’s refreshing to have a new style of pant come in to my life, I was getting awfully tired of having to undo my pants every time I sat down because they were too tight. A big thanks to fashion for helping a girl out! 

Moving along to the other elements of my look: I’ve got on an old school 90′s “Le Chateau” mesh floor length cape thingy that really makes me feel like i’m mixing Sabrina the Teenage Witch with Three’s Company, but it’s fine. I have a lot of fun mixing and matching different era’s of fashion! I’m also wearing a cropped zip up vintage reworked top, which i bought from F As In Frank, and I’ve also got on my checkered vans slip on’s to add a fun little Bones Brigade vibe to tie this 70′s/80′s/90′s look together! 

Anyways, I hope you start wearing bell bottoms too, cuz they’re freakin awesome.
