stranger in her hometown
It had been several months now since Brandita, or Felicity, or whoever she was, had found her way back home to Freeport. While things were still different, she was finally starting to feel less like a stranger in her own hometown. It felt like she belonged there in ways that it hadn’t when she first came back, and she welcomed it. She needed it, really. She finished her shift at the hospital and stifled a yawn as she made her way down the business district, keen on getting some coffee before she went home.
Laurie didn’t mean to actually offend her, but her filter wasn’t always in operation. She loitered for a moment until Dita was finished at the register before approaching her again. “I’m sorry, that came out wrong.”
