The Art of Alex Chinneck
Uniting the disciplines of art, architecture, theatre and engineering, the work of British sculptor Alex Chinneck is monumental in ambition and impact, producing contextually responsive interventions that animate the place in which they stand.

Iâve been trying to organise all the files on my computer and I found these from an old project years ago. Itâs a model of a coral reef I made for a book cover that never happened in the end. This must have been in about 2012 or 2013 or something. I really had a lot of fun making this model and I remember I was watching through all of Battlestar Galactica at the time.

Fruit as CharactersÂ
London-based illustrator Marija Tiurina recent personal project pairs green foods sheâs found interesting and inspiring, and creating characters based on them.Â
A lot of people already condemn and calling this teacher a bitch/monster on the comment/reblog, not knowing the whole story. It was actually the TEACHER who drew the beautiful art on the blackboard, and the teacher is a HE, heâs an accomplished artist who was trying to teach his students about the beauty of art and however changing it is. He will draw any arts by request from his students, the students will take some pictures, and then he erases it from the board, and make new ones. Heâs not a monster. Heâs actually trying to spark the studentsâ interest in art. Funny how a simple pic without context enrages people - and the people refusing to look beyond the story.
You can follow his artworks on Twitter @hamacream where he always posts/tweet his arts.
Here are some samples of his artwork:
Itâs awsome I wish I had a teacher like that
Thank you for the context I feel much better now.

Harp-for-Two with Ranjit Bhatnagar
Ranjit Bhatnagar is collaborating one-on-one with lots of different artists this month for a project he calls Collab Feb. Iâm one of them. Last week, he and I made this harp/activity table.
If the video above isnât working (Tumblr and Flickr donât play well together), you can see it here:Â https://www.flickr.com/photos/ranjit/25283597537/in/album-72157692917040575/
I first met Ranjit eleven(?) years ago via the thing-a-day project. I was making a drawing everyday for a month; he was building a new musical instrument every day. I burned out pretty quickly, but he kept going, making hundreds of instruments for every February day, year after year. Occasionally I helped out, including performing on his instruments as part of the Glass Bees in 2009 and 2010.
Both of us have some experience hacking on stringed instruments, but safe to say we still found new things to try while inventing this harp. We very much made it up as we went along, starting with whatever we brought in our knapsacks and whatever we scavenged from NY Resistorâs scrap piles. Every time I wanted to run out to the hardware store to get the ârightâ part, Ranjit steered us towards repurposing something we already had. Everything kept changing as we went, as it should be with improvisatory collaboration. The finished instrument turned out to be remarkably viable.
My favorite new discovery was learning you can make a drum head by blasting tyvek with a heat gun. My least favorite new discovery was learning you can put a hole in tyvek by blasting it with a heat gun. Oopsie.
The video up top shows us both playing the finished harp. Thereâs another video at the bottom of me playing the halfway finished instrument. (If itâs not working, try this link:Â https://www.flickr.com/photos/ranjit/28347821129/in/album-72157692917040575/)
Iâm very glad Ranjit invited me to participate in this! Iâm enjoying following his other collaborations and look forward to our next project together.Â
