It killed him to see the water forming in Laurâs eyes, and he couldnât help but to beat himself up about it. How he was likely the cause behind that happening. Maybe it would have just been best for him to tell his friend to leave all together, but really that would likely lead to a whole other thing that would entail of the two going back and forth on if that should happen or not. Again, another thing he could easily blame himself for. Marcus really did have a hard time thinking before both speaking and acting, and quite honestly he wouldnât have blamed Lauren if that was one of the reasons why they couldnât work out. He knew he wasnât the smartest guy, but damn it he tried. At least when it came to the solution. He deserved some kind of credit for that at least, right?
He did he best to keep some good distance between them but kept his eyes locked on for her reaction. He wasnât too sure sure how sheâd even react, and maybe even became a little surprised to see her be so accepting of his apology. He shook his head at her words, and thinned his lips a bit. âNo, itâs fine. You had a bad day, sheâll understand that. Iâll go pick up all the clothes and weâll go be inside my room the rest of the night. The rest of the house is yours tonight,â he insisted, giving her a small nod and a comforting smile before backing himself away to leave her room.
âInside the rest of the night?â Her brows furrowed in confusion. Maybe her interpretation of everything was a bit different than his. She thought that his offer to get out of her way was to remove his company to...who knows...maybe his companyâs home abode and not here? But of course it didnât come out as nicely as she possibly could put it. Instead, from her lips left a curt, brash retort that went something like this:Â âI figured that maybe youâd leave entirely, considering the circumstances. You and her would still bother me because of the mere notion that your presence exists behind that closed door.â She shook her head, guilty of the fact that it came out harshly - but exasperated at the fact that he would think that his simple solution would be the big heroic turn of the century. Which it wasnât.
âForget it. Iâll go.â She slung her bag over her shoulder and walked a couple steps across her room to pick up her purse. Lauren slipped her toes into Old Navy flip flops she had gotten on sale and because of their cheapness, they made noises as pressure was applied with every step across the hardwood floor as she made her way through the living room. âSayonara, bitches.â She left, not bothering that the door slammed behind her.
Girl meets boy and falls in love. Girl and boy move in together. Girl gets mixed messages, and gets internally confused about their relationship and they both make stupid mistakes. Girl and boy fight. Girl and boy have no money because they thought their relationship would pass every test of time. Maybe marriage wasnât at the forefront of their minds, but separation of any kind wasnât in their forecast either. Until it was. And there was no money for either one to leave their hostile apartment they shared together.Â
At this point, Lauren was strongly considering living out in her car.
