Well, Rangers, we got some sad news the other day, and it's affected all of us. Whether you came to the series recently or long ago, Ranger's Apprentice left a profound impact on all of us, and drove many of us to create - art, writing, short form videos, memes, and so much more. In honour of that, I'll be hosting a fanwork fest on AO3.

There is no theme to this collection. Whatever speaks to you right now is okay to write. Write fluff if you need something uplifting; write angst if you need something cathartic; expand on a canon scene, or write something with entirely original characters. Illustrate a scene from canon, draw a short comic, anything. If it help you, it fits.

Post your works here when you're ready. You can submit more than one thing, if you have more ideas. Works will be revealed May 22nd, 2026, but you're welcome to post after that date as well.

Dear John, thank you for all you've done and for the world that you created. Ranger's Apprentice has meant a lot to me and helped me when I felt lost. You'll be greatly missed. Rest in peace, beloved Head Ranger🍂

When the chain of the oakleaf necklace breaks, your next/current mission will end in disaster.

It was my dream to meet him one day, to tell him how much his stories meant to me, but I’m going to have to resort to doing it this way, in the hopes that my words will reach the place where kind souls like his go to.

I first received one of the brotherband books as a birthday present when I was young. I had never heard of the series or the author, but I loved the characters and the story from the very first read. I was practically begging my parents to buy me every single brotherband book, and after that I devoured all of RA. It was such a joy every time a new RA or BB book came out, and I’m incredibly grateful to have been able to experience the joy and anticipation of waiting for the story to continue.

The world Flanagan has created will forever remain my favourite. I found a home in it, comfort in hard times and a place to dream away. Because of it, I met this amazing fandom. I’m a firm believer we’ll keep Flanagan’s legacy alive through our artworks and writing <3 I love you guys 🥰

He was on a job to capture some bandits or something, y'know, the usual stuff they do, but he ended up not sleeping for pretty much 3 days straight, like the idiot that he is.

He gets back to Redmont at like 11 at night and drops the bandits off to get thrown in jail and then goes to Arald to give him a brief report on what happened. Arald isn't really paying attention on what Halts saying though. The only thing he can focus is how absolutely exhausted he looks. He also can't pay attention to what he's saying because his accent is so thick he can't understand anything.

Arald is genuinely concerned for him and is contemplating moving closer to him in case he falls over because Halt genuinely looks like he's about to pass out. Arald asks him how long it's been since he slept, and because of the accent he thinks for a second Halt said something like ten days, or at least more than three and he gets really concerned and is about to send him to the nurse before he realises what he actually said.

Arald tells him he can finish reporting what happened the next day and tells him to go home and get some sleep. The walk from Aralds office to Halt and Pauline's apartment isn't that far, but Halt looks so tired and almost dead that Aralds concerned if he can make it that far. He offers Halt some help to get home but Halt obviously refuses and says hes fine. (If Halt has still been living at the cabin Arald would have straight up just offered to let Halt stay the night instead of walking that distance)

Halt does end up making it home fine. Pauline is still awake and is doing work at the table when he walks in and he doesn't say anything to her even when she says hi and asks how she is and instead just goes right to their room and immediately collapses onto bed and immediately falls asleep.

He's not under the covers at all, and he's still wearing his entire uniform, including cloak, boots and knives. The only thing he could be bothered to take off was the quiver, everything else he was too tired too.

Pauline saw him and took off his cloak and boots and got him more comfortable by putting his knives away and actually putting him under the covers. He was still in his clothes but it was better than before. Then she crawls into bed with him. He continues to sleep for like 16 hours straight.

Your Cralt art was beautiful, can you draw something Haltine (Halt and Pauline)?? Pretty please?

It is currently 12:25am and I am at my Grandpas house for my Granny's anniversary (so sad) and every adult is drunk and I'm just sitting in this room with my cousins so now I'm gonna write about my headcanons for the rangers and the others being drunk and what they're like because I have nothing to do and I want to go home and I've thinking about this for a while.

Halt: Pretty much the same but he just feels emotions like x100. Just everything he feels is intensified for some reasons and he'll react to things more strongly and express how he feels more openly. Like he'll be more likely to actually laugh at something and find the stupidest things funny, get pissed over the smallest things and wanna fight someone, and just be more emotional in general. He also gets very Hibernian

Will: Will is defintly a happy drunk and finds everything funny. He probably tries to tell really stupid jokes but not be able to get them out because he'll start laughing before he even tells him, but either way if he did manage to tell it people probably wouldn't be able to understand him because he'd be slurring his words so much. He'd find everything funny

Gilan: He's also a happy drunk but he's a loud one as well. He'd the guy to scream along to karaoke songs. He probably does scream out random songsand annoying everyone. He'd also be super clingy and be leaning on everyone and try to grab people to dance with him. He's just having fun

Horace: He's just really chill and kinda confused. He just sits there zoning out and looking really sleepy and shit. He's also very affectionate and will be clingy to Cassie and Will and really anyone.

Crowley: I personally don't think Crowley drinks at all, but if he did get drunk he'd be happy, tired and clingy all rolled into one. He'd be laughing a lot and loud and also probably be singing, being really touchy and affectionate towards Halt, and then probably collapse and fall asleep first and lean against someone (Halt). He'd also be the person to have weird deep talks to people. Like he'd go up to Will and have a deep talk with him about and future and would just be rambling

Pauline: Probably just her but the her when she doesn't have to be formal and diplomatic all the time. She'll swear, make dirty jokes, laugh a lot, probably try and get Halt to dance with her or something and for some reason I feel like she'd spill her drink a lot.

I can't really be bothered and also can't think of anything else for anyone else so I'm done. I make might a part 2 of them with hangovers but I also can't think of anything other than Halt so maybe not.

Also it's currently 1:06am and IM STILL NOT HOME. THEY PUT MY GRANDPA IN BED AGES AGO WHY ARE WE STILL HERE!!
