Its just wet mouth and no heat and after a very generous attempt at 7-seconds-in-Heaven, they both lean back and are mutually like huh. Thought that was gonna be different

And within a year they've started to drift apart - all of that will they/won't they tension/pressure they got from their friends suddenly much easier to tolerate now that they tried - they got their own apt out of the (really Rose's) brownstone, and then after enough arguments Billy moves out to his own place, and suddenly they haven't seen each other for a month after over 20 years and its like a shock to their systems

But they're both very proud people and Billy is technically Pete's landlord, so they both use the excuse of due rent to meet up and go out somewhere and seeing each other means so much more now that its not a daily occurrence and

that's the spark.
