I've been reading a lot of hollanov fanfiction recently, and often in fics there's moments where either hayden or jj or someone else finds out that shane is gay, and then there's something along the lines of 'Im not even sure I ever knew you, how could you hide such a big thing from me?? Were we even ever friends?'

And i never understand what the hell they're talking about.

Like i would understand if it was about the fact that he's "sleeping with the enemy" or something, but its always specifically abou him being gay and in a committed relationship for a long time. Is it weird of me to think that its not that big of a deal?? Like if i found out my best friend was a lesbian and in a 10 year relationship Id just congratulate her and move on. Like she doesn't owe me to tell if she's having sex or not? That's her personal business???

Am i stupid? Is this a cultural barrier? Someone please help me understand i genuinely don't get it
