Larvatus is set in a fictional country called Talavan! It’s an amalgamation of Central and Eastern Europe (some English Moors are also thrown in because I can’t resist), with some settlements to the north more influenced by places like Denmark and Iceland. I’m definitely inspired by the high gothic style of cathedrals for areas of religious significance as well. 

To call the weather “dreary” would be an understatement. It’s cold, miserable, and almost always covered in a light shower or mist. It is a rare sight to see the sun as the sky is always blanketed by grey clouds.

The fauna of Larvatus are similar in function to the animals we know, but with a bit more of a fantasy twist on them, as always. 

The Empire crumbles under its debt; the colonies under their famine. The clandestine authority of the eight does naught but stoke the fires of bitterness.
