My Airbnb host upon my checking out early because I found an apartment

Me: The homesickness just hit pretty hard today, so I'm a little out of it.

Friend: Fucking homesickness

Me: What did it today was grocery shopping. Part of me was still deluded about this being like a weird vacation, and buying a loaf of bread was too real.

Friend: Do you not eat bread on vacation?

Me: Well not buying bread with the notion that I'll eat it over the next few weeks. Also bread is famously what you eat when a vacation is over. That's why they serve it on airplanes leaving Orlando.

At less than a week until my big move, I can’t help but think about the things I won’t have a week from now. I’ve lived my entire life in the Northeast, and New York has always been “the City”. I’m excited about my new city and the new experiences I’ll have there, but I want to document the things I’ll miss.
