he still couldn't wrap his head around this, even with alessandro standing in front of him. he's like a ghost that's able to be touched, seen. he doesn't want to look away, fear that the other would disappear again if he took his eyes off of him. fingers release the empty vial, eyes moving back up to allie's face. he hasn't changed one bit, personality still as illuminating as stefan remembered. eyes just as bright, the sun bringing out the deep brown of them. he tilts his head, admiring his first sire. the sentiment of the vial makes his heart strings tug, burn almost. ❛ i can't believe you kept it, after all this time. ❜ stefan feels tears looming, knowing he won't be able to hold them in for long. but ... he clears his throat to force them back. when he says he saved his life stefan shakes his head, he didn't deserve to have that honor. he's the reason allie even had to turn in the first place. ❛ saved your life ... i'm the reason you're a vampire. you should've been able to live a full happy and human life, sandro. ❜ he says gently, leaning forward to put a soft hand on the other's cheek. a tear finally escapes his eyes, so he has to blink. ❛ that's not silly, not at all. i'm glad we got to see each other again. even though it's been one too many centuries. ❜ he offers a tearful grin. / @lamentful

with the vial returning to its home above his heart, he stands quietly, happy to give stefan all the time he needs to adjust. to him, it rather feels like they had been together yesterday, their reunion an inevitability rather than an impossibility. but it's clear stefan had believed him dead all these centuries, and what a joy it is to be alive and be able to assure stefan of the opposite. ❛ getting rid of it would've felt like giving up. ❜ and that just isn't something allie does, especially where important people are concerned. sentimental to his core, he finds any way he can to prevent people in his life from being forgotten ⸻ stefan being no exception. ❛ a full human life wasn't in the cards for me, and i've always been okay with that, ❜ he responds firmly, eyes kind. while being a vampire certainly hadn't been how he'd imagine his life would go, he'd easily accepted the new way of life he'd stumbled into. he'd come to view it as having far more time to improve the world a little everywhere he went, having centuries rather than decades to help people who needed it. ❛ it's been a few centuries, but it's never too late. ❜ he finally pulls stefan into a hug, the hold as warm and reassuring as ever.
