أُمِّي وَإِنْ مَلأَ المَشِيبُ عَوارِضِي؛ سَأَظَلُّ طِفْلاً عِنْدَهَا أَتَدَلَّلُ.

- مقدّمة النوم تسمّى: سِنة “لا تأخذه سِنة ولا نوم”

- بداية النوم يسمّى: نُعاس “إذ يغشيكم النُعاس أمنة منه”

- النوم المتقطّع يسمّى: هجوع “كانوا قليلاً من اللّيل ما يهجعون”

- النوم الطويل يسمّى: رقود “وتحسبهم أيقاظ وهم رقود”

عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ ـ رضى الله عنه قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذَا أَخَذَ مَضْجَعَهُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ وَضَعَ يَدَهُ تَحْتَ خَدِّهِ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ ‏"‏ اللَّهُمَّ بِاسْمِكَ أَمُوتُ وَأَحْيَا ‏"‏‏.‏ وَإِذَا اسْتَيْقَظَ قَالَ ‏"‏ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ ‏"‏‏.‏ صحيح البخاري ومسلم - حديث ٦٣١٤، ٢٧١١

Narrated Hudhaifa: When the Prophet (peace be upon him) went to bed at night, he would put his hand under his cheek and then say, “Allahumma bismika amutu wa ahya, ( O Allah, it is with Thine Name that I live and it is with Thine Name that I die.)” and when he got up, he would say, “Al-Hamdu lil-lahi al-ladhi ahyana ba'da ma amatana, wa ilaihi an-nushur. عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ إِذَا أَوَى إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ جَمَعَ كَفَّيْهِ ثُمَّ نَفَثَ فِيهِمَا فَقَرَأَ فِيهِمَا ‏{‏قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ‏}‏ وَ‏{‏قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ‏}‏ وَ‏{‏قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ‏}‏ ثُمَّ يَمْسَحُ بِهِمَا مَا اسْتَطَاعَ مِنْ جَسَدِهِ يَبْدَأُ بِهِمَا عَلَى رَأْسِهِ وَوَجْهِهِ وَمَا أَقْبَلَ مِنْ جَسَدِهِ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ ثَلاَثَ مَرَّاتٍ‏. صحيح البخاري حديث ٥٠١٧

Narrated ‘Aisha: Whenever the Prophet (peace be upon him) went to bed every night, he used to cup his hands together and blow over it after reciting Surat Al-Ikhlas, Surat Al-Falaq and Surat An-Nas, and then rub his hands over whatever parts of his body he was able to rub, starting with his head, face and front of his body. ما جاء في صفة نوم رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم 29 The Sleeping Of Allah’s Messenger

عن أنس بن مالك رضي الله عنه : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ إِذَا أَوَى إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ قَالَ: “‏ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنَا وَسَقَانَا وَكَفَانَا وَآوَانَا فَكَمْ مِمَّنْ لاَ كَافِيَ لَهُ وَلاَ مُئْوِيَ ‏"‏ ‏. صحيح مسلم حديث ٢٧١٥‏

Anas reported Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) as saying: When you go to bed, say:” Praise is due to Allah Who fed us, provided us drink, sufficed us and provided us with shelter, for many a people there is none to suffice and none to provide shelter.“ Sahih Muslim 2715 In-book reference: Book 48, Hadith 87 USC-MSA web (English) reference: Book 35, Hadith 6556
