god smut is so hard to write.
first you gotta do the build up and then the actual fucking and the fucking is pretty easy but you never know how long the fucking should last, and eventually you're like "okay I'm tired of this" so the characters cum, but you're not done yet because you can't just end it at "he fucking nutted everywhere" you gotta keep going, and the characters have to chat a little or cry or think about how horrible they are or something and then you kinda don't know when to end that either so now you're 2k words in and you might have put too much self hatred and not enough sucking dick. so you wrap it up, and think well it's done now.
or sometimes you have it all perfect in your mind and you knock the whole thing out in 2 to 3 hours.
important reminder that most people you follow online are significantly lamer than you think they are including me. and if you feel insecure comparing yourself to someone online: DON'T. theyre probably also lame and weird. most people on the internet are
reblog if you're also lame and weird.
I actually recommend everyone write for a rarepair once because it completely changes your relationship with fandom. Engagement stops being numbers and starts being names. You know who's going to show up. You recognize usernames. Someone disappears for a while and then comes back and you're like “OH MY GOD WELCOME HOME.” It's incredibly wholesome. It is also deeply inconvenient when all six of you simultaneously get writer's block-

With the whole "Markiplier making his own DVD copies of Iron Lung to sell" thing, it's been fascinating and slightly concerning how many people seem to genuinely believe that if a physical release isn't coming from a giant corporation, it must automatically be a bootleg.
Look at me.
Look me directly in the eyes while I say this.
You can just make things.
You can simply create something and put it into the world.
That's allowed.
People have been doing it for centuries.
They sell blank VHS tapes. They sell blank DVDs. Blank CDs. You can buy flash drives by the bucketful if you really want to. If you create a movie, an album, a game, a documentary, or a four-hour video essay about the mating habits of fictional space goblins, you are entirely permitted to put that thing on physical media and sell it.
That is not piracy.
Piracy is taking something that belongs to someone else and reproducing or distributing it without permission.
If I buy a DVD of a movie, I own that copy of the movie. I do not own the movie itself. I didn't acquire the rights to duplicate it, press a thousand copies, and start selling them out of my garage like I've become the regional distributor for Warner Bros.
The copyright, distribution rights, and intellectual property still belong to whoever created it or whoever legally acquired those rights.
If I start burning copies of Iron Lung and selling them myself without Markiplier's permission, that's piracy.
If Markiplier, who made and owns the rights to Iron Lung, burns copies and sells them himself, that's just distribution.
He's the rights holder.
He's distributing his own work.
If you made it, if it came from your own mind, your own work, your own time, your own resources, then congratulations. You own the thing. You don't need a corporation to bless it with legitimacy.
The corporation is not what makes it real.
The fact that it exists is what makes it real.
I think we've accidentally spent so many years living inside a world dominated by mass-produced media that some people have developed the strange assumption that all media emerges from a factory somewhere. As if films naturally occur in shrink-wrapped plastic cases and descend from the heavens aboard a pallet truck.
But independent artists have been burning discs, dubbing tapes, printing books, pressing records, and mailing things directly to people for longer than many of us have been alive.
That's not a bootleg.
That's just a product.
It's not "bootleg."
It's just... leg.
The normal kind.
The original, free-range, locally sourced leg.
The key to writing good fanfiction is to harbor a deeply humiliating desire, and the trick there is that even pretty basic and societally-accepted desires like “being held” and “being wanted” CAN and WILL be humiliating if they’re intense enough. Become so estranged from human connection that the idea of someone playing with your hair fills you with yearning so deep you feel like you’re going to throw up and you will write some banger fanfiction. It might have some other consequences too but idrk about that.
A real life example of using mobility aids making other people comfortable to use them themselves in my life, is me using mine and my mom following.
Like, my mom has a lot of health issues and should really be using aids all the time. But she's really stubborn and believes all the stigmas, so she never would use any.
Then I started to use a cane occasionally and she started talking about using one. So I got us matching canes, and now she uses it often. She'll brag about it to me too. Like I'll walk in and she goes "I used the cane you got me while I was at Disney this weekend. It was really helpful"
Today I decorated my plain black cane with stickers and brought it in to show her and now she's all excited because she wants to put stickers on her cane.
Anyway it feels nice seeing her finally feel comfortable with using a mobility aid to get around.

That post about 30 year old coming of age stories?
I’ve been thinking about it all morning. What would the plot points be for that? What makes a 30 year old coming of age story?
Old folks sound off in the comments
A few ideas:
Burying a parent that never encouraged independence
Acknowledging a trauma you've spent your life ignoring
Finally opening yourself up to a truly mutual, non-transactional relationship (platonic or romantic)
Leaving a community (religious or otherwise) that has kept you from growing
Obtaining a diagnosis for a health condition (mental or physical) and finally getting treatment and recontextualizing your life.
Student loan forgiveness kicking in, suddenly you can afford to live. That one small change snowballs into something big.
Starting over after the end of The Big Relationship you thought would define your life. Engaging in a new hobby/social group that adds context to how small life felt in that relationship.
You find yourself with a pet you have to care for, which teaches you to care for yourself.
You take a class somewhere that unlocks skills you didn't know you had.
People are tagging it, but I'm just gonna say it.
GENDER TRANSITION.
Coming out as any stripe of queer.
The post-incarceration experience after any significant amount of time.

Reblogging as this is so important everyone! My mum had breast cancer and that shit is not nice so please check yourself ladies and gents! 💕💕💕
Always a reblog. 💋
I will forever reblog this when I see it because its so important
Mid-year book check-in!
I was tagged by the lovely @otterandterrier and while my stats aren’t impressive, I like the idea of sharing them and sharing what I’ve been reading. I’m not counting fanfiction in here, because while I have read and enjoyed a lot of that this year, I also want to read books.
Read so far: 4 books (I feel like it’s more but I did a poor job updating my StoryGraph and I figure that if I didn’t remember reading a book it probably shouldn’t count in the total), 1021 pages. All fiction, and my main “moods” for my reads so far are adventurous, lighthearted, hopeful, funny, and dark. The “dark” at the end was kind of funny to see but I guess a lot of my faves are more dark with a happy ending type books.
Two of my books were rereads of Star Wars novels — Solo Command from the Wraith Squadron series and Starfighters of Adumar which is more of a Rogue Squadron-centered book, both by Aaron Allston. I highly recommend both — both are crammed full of characters whose personalities we actually get to see while they are having adventures, and manage to be complex and funny and wonderful.
My two other books are sort of lighthearted fantasy books, both about magic users. The Keeper of Magical Things by Julie Leong was delightful; it’s a story about two mages (well, an apprentice mage and an established mage who has been struggling) who are sent with a cart full of what are deemed to be low-level magical objects to a town that has supposedly lost all its magic, because the mage HQ has been overrun with magical energy and it is causing issues like turning all the cooks into cabbages. So the two mages, both women, go to the town, where their job is to catalog all the magical objects to find out what they do, and then store them safely in town. But the mages end up getting a little more involved in the town (and with each other) than they’d bargained for. I won’t reveal more because it’s more fun to see their personalities and the plot unfold.
The other book, Violet Thistlewaite Isn’t a Villain Anymore by Emily Krempholtz, is also a lot of fun. The titular Violet was until recently The Thornwitch, right-hand to the dark sorcerer Guy Shadowblade. But Guy is dead, and the heroine summoned to kill him gives Violet a challenge: Be good. So Violet settles in the town of Dragon’s Rest to start a flower shop and do just that. But there are obstacles, a big one being her grumpy landlord Nathaniel, a former alchemist who runs the apothecary shop next door with his sister Pru. And when a blight begins spreading across the town and another new potential villain enters the scene, Violet finds that being good is more challenging than ever — but she doesn’t need to face it alone. Again, it’s more fun to discover it, but this one was really cute and had some unexpected turns that were nicely earned in the story.
If you’re following me and have been doing some reading you’d like to share, consider yourself tagged! I want to hear about your books.
