@mikelibecki hustling down the mountain in remote southeast #Greenland after yet another 10 hour day of shuttling gear up steep and loose terrain. Any big expedition is an exercise in patience and a LOT of hauling gear long distances to establish new camps as you press higher towards the goal. The summer months for #polarBears are generally lean times, especially for a mother with 2 new born #cubs. As the sea ice recedes hunting seals becomes much more difficult, making foraging for eggs from nesting birds and scavenging a regular part of the hunt. We encountered this beautiful family in the Svalbard archipelago napping in the heat of the day. An unforgettable encounter with these incredible animals. @naturalworldsafaris (at Svalbard)

A #squa, the avian opportunist of the Antarctic, always on the hunt for a scavengers meal. This bird here was hanging out near a rookery of albatross, looking for unguarded nests and struggling chicks. A juvenile #furSeal showing me his teeth in a gesture that says “That’s close enough”. These territorial seals are among my favorite animals in Antarctica, they have big personalities and watching them prowl the beaches from a far they look like bears. They always made their presence known with loud barking as we landed zodiacs onto the beaches, making sure we gave a respectable distance when walking by. Ever since I was a kid watching an electrical storm has been one of my favorite events in nature. Anytime one rolled through Colorado Springs, the town I grew up in, my dad @dougladzinski would take us out to see them roll across the front range of Colorado. It was always exciting, a simple pleasure watching the skies open up into an electrical explosion. This photo here was taken this last May, one of hundreds currently sitting on a hard drive waiting for a home! It’s part of an obsession to photograph #lighting that I’ve had since I first started shooting photos. Dust storms, one of the most photogenic yet miserable things to be in when #stormChasing. It’s absolutely brutal on your eyes and your gear but the visuals are insane. A #littleAuk coming in for a landing in Spitsbergen #Svalbard. These little birds are primarily aquatic and spend most of their time out at sea fishing and foraging for crustaceans. From a photography perspective they’re pretty damn cute, animatedly flying in large flocks and socially interacting in colonies. We only had about an hour and a half to photograph a colony of these cool little birds, it definitely left me wanting more!
