Need Anything Else?

“Eh. I’m sure you will. The people near the shop aren’t all that friendly. Especially after I beat them all at arm wrestling.” 

“Um… Fidget? You okay?” 

“My cupcakes ! SOMEONE STOLE ALL MY CUPCAKES ! I STASHED THEM ALL AWAY AND NOW THEY ARE GONE, REEEEEEEEEEEE !”

“Uh... Alright then. If you want, we can make you more cupcakes. You don’t have to go crazy over it.” 

“Yup. When I was littler, I wanted to get super strong for my family, and so, with a lot of hard work, I did. It’s always fun seeing the look on people’s faces when they find out.” 

“Oh yeah. Right. They may or may not be afraid of me. There’s a few reasons as to why some of the statues are missing parts. Well, one reason. My trusty hammer and I did that.” 

“Alright then. Follow me.” She grabbed a bag off the floor and headed out. Unlike what probably happened to Dust on the way up, they didn’t encounter any monsters on the way down. Not even any blombs.

“Oh, just this little shop. I buy some of my supplies from him.” 

“Not bad. I actually was just about to head out and run some errands. Wanna come with?”

He returned to the table and set the bucket next to Fidget. “Alright. Water. Next is… cleaning?” It was hard for him to keep his thoughts straight. He focused on one step at a time, to keep things moving, and grabbed a fresh rag to begin wiping Fidget’s injury. He gritted his teeth to keep himself focused- there was too much hanging in the balance to allow for his nerves.

After that was done, she bandaged Fidget up, doing so with the amount of detail and focus that any blacksmith should have, and finally, Fidget was patched up, and should be able to do some healing. Haley turned to Dust, holding up a bottle of pain killers. “Dust, when she wakes up, give her one of these, and only one. After what’s she’s been through, she is going to need them. Trust me.”

Dust watched Haley move with a sense of relief. She knew more about what she was doing than he did, apparently. He had simply known if he got somewhere to rest, they stood a better chance than remaining in the wildlands. The blacksmith’s words spurned the warrior to action and he did as she bade. Carefully, hand still covering the worst of her wounds, he set the nimbat on the table. “Do you need any water? Or any help?” Anything to keep him from just standing there and waiting. He had to move, to help, to do something.

He looked up at the blacksmith with concern. “You were the first person I thought of. Do you have any bandages? Or medicine?”

“Um... Lemme think for a second.” Haley searched around the room, looking for the medical supplies. After finding some bandages, some items to stitch up her wounds, and some painkillers. “Ok... Ok.. Think...” She cleared a table. Wiping off whatever dirt and crud was on the table. “Alright Dust.. Bring her here.”

He cradled Fidget close to his chest- all they needed were some bandages, maybe a soft bed to sleep on tonight. But he was uncomfortable simply helping himself to such things. “Haley, I know it’s late, but please, are you there?”

She quickly ran up to the two, extremely worried for the nimbat. “What happened?”
