Couldn't get back into my old account, so here's to hoping old friends find me again.

Living my best life in the Netherlands. I'm a down-to-earth woman who loves good food and isn't about pretending to eat a tiny salad just to impress someone. Give me a hearty meal, a nice glass of wine, and good company any day. Coffee is a daily essential, and a gezellig evening with friends or family is hard to beat.

You'll usually find me wandering through a bookshop or library, swapping playlists with family, singing along to my favourite songs when no one's judging, cooking something delicious, watching musicals or classic films, visiting museums, or enjoying a quiet afternoon in Amsterdam. The canals, historic buildings, cosy cafés, and beautiful parks never get old. It's easily one of my favourite places in the world. I'm also a football fan, love family game nights, enjoy treating my nieces to coffee and little shopping trips, and nothing beats coming home to cuddle my three pit bulls after a long day.

I feel incredibly fortunate to call the Netherlands home. It's a country with a rich history, beautiful traditions, and a strong sense of community. I'm grateful for the opportunities here and appreciate the efforts that go into making this such a safe, welcoming, and well-organised place to live. This little corner of the internet reflects who I am and the things that make me smile. You'll see posts about books, music, travel, history, food, animals, and the little moments that make life beautiful.

Football is emotional, but respect should never leave the game.

Yes, Spain deserved the victory. They executed their game plan better, took their chances, and earned their place in the next round. That's football.

But what has surprised me is how quickly some people have rushed to mock Cristiano Ronaldo because Portugal fell short.

One player does not win or lose a football match. Ronaldo has spent over two decades setting standards that millions of players can only dream of reaching. He has carried club and country through countless unforgettable moments, broken records, inspired generations, and shown an unmatched commitment to excellence.

Every great athlete eventually experiences defeat. It happened to Pelé. It happened to Maradona. It happened to Messi. And it has happened to Ronaldo. That's not failure,that's sport.

What deserves more attention is Ronaldo's sportsmanship throughout his career. Whether celebrating victories or enduring painful defeats, he has consistently shown respect for the game, his teammates, and many of his opponents. The same fans who celebrate football should also respect the legends who helped make it what it is today.

Support Spain. Celebrate their success. Congratulate their players.

But don't let celebration turn into disrespect.

Legends aren't defined only by the trophies they lift, they're defined by the legacy they leave behind. Cristiano Ronaldo's legacy was secured long before this match, and one defeat can never erase more than 20 years of greatness.
