Another Sneak Peek from my upcoming comic - “The Last Train Home”

Hey dudes! Are you a Coco fan? Are you a writer or artist? Do you like angst? If you answered “yes” to all of the above, then Bookworm Gal (author of Like a Gentle Refrain) has a challenge for you!

~The Coco Locos Angst Off 2018~

-    Only one entry per person.

-    Both fics and comics are accepted (there are supposed to be ways to add images). Fics can be between 500-4,000 words. Comics can be between 4-30 panels. This word count does not include any necessary creator notes (such as identify an AU and specifying the prompt).

-    Contest runs between September 1 and October 15. All entries must be submitted by 11:59 PM Pacific Time. Voting for the winner will be between October 20 and November 1. Do not vote for your own entry.

-    In order to keep the contest fair, all entries will be submitted anonymously to AO3. That means do not post your work on another site (ex. Tumblr) and do not describe your work to others until after the contest is over.

-    When posting your entry, add it to the collection “Coco_Locos_Contests,” which has already been set up to keep the works anonymous.

-    Tag your entry as “Coco Locos Angst Off 2018”

-    Select a prompt from this list for your entry. The prompt does not have to be your first sentence. It just needs to appear somewhere in the entry.

This challenge was started by Bookworm Gal over on the Coco Locos discord server, but we are extending it to the whole fandom!

Me: *thinking* ok but, like, Imelda spent 100 years thinking the love of her life abandoned her and the family they were building when really he was brutally murdered and probably buried in a shallow grave somewhere and all he wanted to do was go home to them because he loved them so much it ultimately killed him. And then when Héctor finally got to see her again in the Afterlife she disowned him and refused to talk to him or forgive him, even though he missed her and Coco so much and just wanted to be reunited with them more than anything.

Right now, I’m laying on the couch, and I can hear my husband reading our four year old a bedtime story using silly voices.

Eliza the second she lays eyes on Ham: “yo this one’s MINE” Eliza, pregnant & unrepentant: “I begged him to send you home; I’m not sorry” Eliza when Ham is about to jet off into politics w/o running it by her: “Alexander. ALEXANDER!” Eliza when Ham is trying to brush her off: “there’s a little surprise before supper and it cannot wait… ALEXANDER!” Eliza when Ham won’t take time off work: “John Adams spends the summer with HIS family” Eliza when Ham cheats on her: “you forfeit all rights to my heart, you forfeit your place in our bed; you sleep in your office instead” Eliza when her son is dying: “WHO DID THIS? ALEXANDER, DID YOU KNOW?” Eliza when Ham is trying to sneak off at ass in the morning: “come back to sleep… well, I’M going back to sleep” Eliza after Ham gets himself killed like a moron: “I put myself back in the narrative”
