Sooooo, hereās a hard thing. For some time now, Iāve been working towards starting writing on what I hope will be a Thing, and Iāve done loads of research and months of Little Bits of Prep. And now... now (Iām fearing) Iām ready to really start. Itās terrifying, but there we are. And every time I try, this happens:
Aaaand Iām pulled right back to Phrack and this gorgeous dream.Ā
But āNo,ā I say!Ā āLady, there are a limited number of hours in your crazy life, and this Thing is an Important Thing, and you should write it.ā
āOk. Imma do that,ā I say, meaning every word.Ā
And then this bloody happens:
āHnnnngggggg,ā I say. Canāt a girl write a Thing without these two butting their beautiful, idiotic heads into everything?Ā
āIāll just write this ONE LAST FIC and then get on with Things.ā
But of course, how can you stop when youāve dipped your toes in these waters?
DO NOT give me those looks. You are NOT HELPFUL WHATSOEVER, EITHER OF YOU.Ā
(And ngl, I blame them both).
So. Hereās the thing - it seems for me to give this other Thing some love and time, I need to pull away a little. I donāt want to, and itās pulling my heart out a little, but there we are.Ā
So to you, all my beautiful, magnificent Phrack loves, thank you for everything, and always. I wonāt be too far, and Iāll drop in whenever I can.... But something else is calling.Ā
Ā I have to see where this flight leads. Iāll be back, I promise. Ā
Look after them for me, will you?Ā
Much, much love, LadyRoxie xxx

Why is Jack Robinson worth all our love?
I know many find Jack Robinson gorgeous and beautiful, but Iām fairly convinced that isnāt why we love him so much. There are many beautiful men out there, after all.
What makes Jack so special is something else: how his style is classical, male hero ā complete with jaw, fedora, coat, and a stern look ā but he is something completely different on the inside. He is not a hard, tough guy who treats women as pretty toys or dangerous cats; he is not cynical or bitter or nonchalant; he doesnāt see the world as revolving around himself and his ego; and he doesnāt dismiss people who are not as ātoughā as himself. On the contrary, he listens to other people, and he listens to and respects women. Not only to brilliant Phryne Fisher, but to many women: he cares about their life experiences and he doesnāt dismiss āwomen issuesā as relevant leads in his cases. @longlineoftvdetectives pinpointed in an earlier post so well how Nathan Page is extremely good at listeningĀ and reacting to what is saidĀ when he acts, and this must have been a crucial point for the casting of him in this role.Ā
(Jack is also wonderful in the way he is simultaneously a serious man and a very humorous one, and in the way he can give as good as he takes in bantering, and this is important because respecting peopleĀ is never ever allowed to turn into being boringĀ in this show.)
This combination of a very established look and a reimagined inside is absolutely wonderful, and when you see it, itās easy to be āruined for other tv showsā. Because this becomes so natural and ā frankly ā so incredibly hot.

The final chapter- thank you to everyone who has followed this story. It took a year to write (on and off) and weeks to post. But thank you for sticking with it!

P: Dot has been rather upset lately. Hugh hasnāt spoken to you, has he? J: He did seek my advice, yes.

Vintage women being badass. Youāre welcome.
Donāt fool yourself into thinking ladies were demure and silent in the past.Ā
I would like more female characters being this open

Phryne and Jack- Miss Fisherās Murder Mysteries.
No words could do this justice š
Are you wooing me?
Jack:Ā āI heard Miss Lavender taught you at school.
⦠what kind of woman was she?ā
Phryne:Ā āCold as a halibut on iceā
Phryne:Ā āAre you wooing me for information, Inspector?ā
Mr Butler: Ā āMiss Fisher, another visitorā Phryne:Ā āLin!ā
Lin:Ā āMy apologies for the intrusionā
Lin:Ā āDetective Inspectorā
Jack:Ā āNice to see you again, Mr Linā
I adore this scene, and his face in it, and itās perfectly captured @izzyandlouie!
He really doesn't even need to say words - it's all right there.
Someone: Iād love to read some of your writing some time
Me, who never gets anything finished:

The "one as yet unsung hero"
South Australia will have its very own Walk of Fame, as part of Adelaide Festival Centre's redevelopment project.
Vote for Nathan Page- Adelaide Festival Centreās Walk of Fame
@hysydney @phrynesboudoir Interestingly it says only open to South Australians and it certainly doesnāt appear to be open to internationals. I couldnāt complete one of the required fields. Pity really! Sorry Nathan.
thatās a shame but it did allow me to from intersrstateā¦.so go N!
You can vote if you donāt live in Australia, just put the first four digits of your postal code. Ā Go Nathan!!!!!!
I think @izzyandlouie that the part only open to South Australians is the contest
ThanksĀ @youarenotatelescope Ā itās all become clear since my comment. It was more the post code thing I couldnāt get past. Obviously Australian and American postcodes are all numbers but I didnāt know that. Ours in UK are a mixture of letters and numbers.Ā
