Zoya from the tiger movies she fierce talented super spy who unlike many gentle and sweet.

I love action movies and every time they bring in the amazing female agent/ spy they somehow have to be the sexy independent seductive show offs who have one line witty comebacks to male lead. Or the nerdy quirky hacker type(also secretly hot) . It’s like through the character the writer seek a validation every word the character speak feels like is as if the writer is like saying “ get it?😃 she is a female spy” “ see that she also hot and independent 😃”

Zoya on the hand despite being acted by the sexy beautiful actresses katrina kaif we are introduced to her as nice girl next door type she is student but not overly nerdy she is cute and pretty and fun although its an undercover persona its not to far from her real self. She captures tiger and is great introduction to the character zoya

After she is identified as zoya the spy and the plot continues she remains the same but now with isi agent talents and abilities. A key factor in most female spy is the wardrobe. The usual solid deep colors tight fitting cloths mostly pants (ya cuz tough girls don’t wear dresses😒) and a whole lots of cleavage. But zoya wears dresses the floral maxy cute dress bright colours and is generally girly and is bad ass too. Both zoya and tiger are hopeless romantics who wanna twirls and dace around the streets around the world.

By the 2nd movie they have cute son who is on track to be the best spy every. Living in Austrian alps It seems they both work from home and are still hopeless romantics who created love filled home. And this move is why i really love zoya.

Zoya as wife and mother very sporting and loyal. And as spy if very independent. She excels at being each.

In other movies where writers have people tell us the female spy is independent and talented this move shows us . Very few times do people in the movie talk about zoya skills not even zoya her self . You know the usual cliche lines

“ she doesn’t need backup she is the backup “ or “ don’t slow me down i work alone”

Zoya just does her job. she shows up all bad ass just in time to save her man. Without her nothing would move forward. Her husband knows that she has his back. Everyone knows zoya works alone when she randomly shows up to save him he assumes she and her team will work on their own and he doesn’t ask her to go back ,he doesn’t say he will taker care of everything he just knows she has her own plans. They work together because she brings it up.

Her independence is again highlighted when tiger gives everyone their mission but just says that zoya will give us the blue print. Why and the how he doesn’t care .Its matter of fact for him he doesn’t even know how difficult it will be zoya will take care of it . her mission becomes even harder because tiger takes her team and she has to go solo . When he does receive the blue print and is told she wreaked havoc and was caught on cctv all he says was how did she look on cam. ( both tiger and i know she looks amazing).

Why i love her character is the show- don’t tell factor.

She is bit unhinged and has a i dont gaf attitude. Zoya will shoot at car that has her husband and team. She also if of very few words and don’t say witty lines. Tiger is the witty fun one. When tells her he was also in the car she just rolled over she just ignores it not even an eye roll. Any other movie and they probably would have her say somewitty comeback. When Tiger sees the rapidly approaching car and he knows it could only be his wife who would pull a crazy stunt. And in the few times she jokes it with people she loves and trust which is mostly tiger like when she deadpen says that she sold their son. She doesn’t joke much cuz that shocked tiger.

She is also compassionate and will go out of her way to help others but she will never jeopardise the mission. Old lady getting mugged in store and zoya take care of it all while not being caught on camera cuz she is a runaway agent. And in style. On her way to the blue print zoya make sure she saves the girls and helps them get revenge and still flawless finishes her mission. She is not reckless she might take on side task but she knows her end gaol.

Tiger is flashy zoya is silent but both are deadly.

And i like how both like to stay in cute cozy leisurely lifestyle. When tiger got the mission she told him to go she stayed back. She could have gone with him they do have people who can take off their son. If it were zoya who got the mission tiger would have probably stayed with their son. Its clear they are agent specifically because of their respective countries . If they can They will stay in their own bubble unless its direct ask from their superiors. Tiger loves his country but his family comes first he was gonna decline untill zoya asked him to go because he would not be himself if he stayed. And if she didn’t receive her mission to save the pakistani nurses she would have stayed home also.

By the 3rd movie you can still see how much she loves being at home she is involved in her community at least enough that she gets along with people at the farms she still as beautiful and loves wearing dress and both are still romantics who never lost spark. Dancing in the streets. She passes down her skills and hobbies to her son. And both are very doting parents as shown when tiger cant watch his son getting injection and zoya insisted that doctor do a home visit instead of going to the clinic.

Their son is above all. So when tiger is captured she doesn’t even give it a second thought to save. She will do everything to save her som junior even betraying her husband. She doesn’t do monologue to Justify to any one she just does . In my opinion if toger was in her shoes he is more of i will save everyone kinda guy while she is do what he can best. which is vailed for both

And again in this movie she works alone . When even tiger has an ear peace to stay connected she doesn’t. Because everyone knows she will handle herself. Like every time she just goes off on her own take care of shit and shows up just in time.

Like thats how you make badass female spy. Everyone knows she is badass and can stand face to face with tiger and she never had prove her self.

She is a lover , a wife , a mother and woman and a spy. She is not define by one position. I would argue being a spy is her least favourite position. For both actually The minute they had chance they dropped it.

And now here is why i think its accidentally. For one blockbuster Bollywood cinema is rarely the place for a well thought of female character. They are usually one dimensional love interest who are there to be beautiful and be saved or die to fuel the male leads character arc. They have very few traits. If they love their job they are loud independent feminist . If they like romance they are quirky naive girls who will have their heart broken at some point in the movie. If they are traditional family girl they are shy weak who cant stand up to the her parents. And that will remain their main personality trait until the climax were falling for the wrong boy changed them. Basically i think this would have been the case here if they didn’t cast katrina. Up and till now she was doing romcoms where she basically the quirky rich london girl. It was well known she cant act and has hard times showing emotions. But she is a great dancer so action choreo fits her well. It is clear that she not given much lines. The ones she is given She says them in a monotone vibe. Zoya doesn’t do behave dramatically because the actress cant do dramatic scenes. So instead she does badass fight scenes which makes her character a more of a show dont tell type.if they trusted her with more lines i have feeling they would have her be more dramatic thats just Bollywood.

A direct counter part is deepika padikoun ( my personal favorite) im pathan as rubai granted its only one movie so far . From the gate she is the typical sexy spy. She just like zoya is an enemy at first yet one far more antagonistic one feels the need to show her skills .( i will have rewatch for more in depth) and the funny thing is deepika is the batter actress even from debut she was well recognized for acting. One 1st move of each character one shows us her depth while the other has to tell us. Truly goes show that u don’t have spoon feed the audience the female spy is independent badd ass talented person.

Anyhow for anyone who reads this sorry for the long rant i just realy love zoya and maybe when next pathan comes out and we see what they do with rubai characters development it will show me that maybe it wasn’t just stroke of luck zoya is the way she is and that just maybe the writers ment it.

Also i would love a movie about their son in the future because like at around 8 years old he is witty and brave like his dad and is smart and logical like his mom. And his parents didn’t tell him who they are in the 2nd movie but it looks like they did by the 3rd movie. Since it looks like he is trained to handle weapons by the and also tiger tells him to let his mom go on the mission. Imagine like an a 19 year old boy genius badass agent sneaks away to save a friend and bites off a little more then he can chew and super spy mom and dad come to save the day cuz the were secretly close by testing to see if he can do it on his own. I love my superspy family
