maybe im just a hater and i never really engage with true crime content outside of the few times i was forced to in high school but whenever people are like "yeah its just fascinating.... to hear how killers think.... its so interesting to know their thought processes..." and well. 99% of the time its "they realized they had the chance to hurt somebody and took it" and they werent some misunderstood genius it was 1. police incompetence & people not caring about the victims and 2. most serial killers are white guys. and white guys can get away with a hell of a lot

like all of my ethical problems with true crime aside its just not that interesting is it. these are not compellingly written movie villains with complex personalities and genius plans and thrilling characterization. theyre just people who decided to hurt other people usually for the reason of "because i wanted something from them" or "because i could get away with it". i love horror movies i love violence in fiction. but in real life this shit is always just devastating and not nearly as quirky or fun as podcasters wanna make it out to be. i dont care about John Murder's twisted psychology and the fascinating reasons why he killed a bunch of women. i think he did it because he didnt like women and he could get away with it because we live in a society that doesnt care about women. true crime is just completely uninteresting to me

god i'm so glad louis killing bruce was as fucked up and empty and hollow as it was. i've been thinking about this moment for years now and like you can't bring her back. you can't go back in time and choose her over lestat and you wouldn't anyway because she was right and it's always been about him. you can't be there for her when it counted. lestat can't be there for her when it counted even though he understood her pain in the most direct sense. no matter how much bruce deserved to die killing him does absolutely nothing for claudia now and was never really going to be anything more than a consolatory gesture for the benefit of the people who weren't there for her when it counted. she was right. it's never been about her.

actually the real risk with being companionless/covenless as a vampire isn't soul-crushing loneliness it's the fact that isolated vampires just start doing anything. four grown ass men got divorced last season and the second they live alone lestat starts a middling soundcloud career, louis starts stalking some poor waitress, daniel becomes a bowling fanatic, and armand is in fucking ohio
