This image by Karen Bell instantly stood out to me. It is called “Morning Fog”. To me the image was an immediate eye catcher, it was also the first image on the site, but putting that aside. The image has something about it, a pull to it. Almost like I can see clearly, but why is this hard to see. It makes you want to squint and see more of the image.Â
I don’t know how many people are similar to me in that sense. If I see a blurry image, or an image with a hidden text that you can only see while squinted or crying, I am intrigued. I want to see that type of image. I want to create that type of image. The image where you see a bunch of black and white lines, but if you tilt your phone you can really see Michael Jackson.Â
I don’t think this image is as comparable to those, but I do think there was intent behind this image. I believe Karen saw a moment that seemed almost magical and wanted to capture it. I think she has a vision in her head of an abyss, a character walking to continue their task even in the worst of conditions. Without seeing 10 feet ahead of you, with hope, trust in your abilities, you will always make it out. I think this is an image of trust in ones self.Â
She has great composition in the image, The subject is centered in while there is a use of leading lines as well. The shadows in the back of the barely visible building leads you to look at the subject, while the lines of the rock on the right also achieve that. The concept of someone walking down a trail will always naturally lead your eyes to the center, and I think it is brilliant.Â
