Hi, angels! With school starting up soon, I decided to write about some of my favorite 2000s inspired hairstyles.
The 2000s either had volume or flat hair, no inbetween. Bumpits became really popular in the late 2000s and were a staple for many people who followed the Mcbling aesthetic. It was popular to straighten your hair then tease the front before brushing it over a bumpit. But of course, bumpits aren't for everyone.
Some other options that'll keep the hair closest to your face out of it are headbands. Zigzag headbands and headbands with clips became famous in the 90s. They're also good for a Mcbling look, especially with teased or unbrushed hair. These headbands fit with other aesthetics such as boho-chic, chicana, and even downtown girl. Thick exercise headbands fit the vibe of downtown girl or soft girl along with yoga mom. Unlike the bumpit, all of these headbands can be worn with curly hair (be careful with the clips!)

Other popular hairstyles in the 2000s were half-up half-down styles. There are many different types of half up hairstyles. My favorite one is where you take two clips and cross both sections of hair into an X on the back. Low half ups, especially with a tortoiseshell clip, match the downtown/autumn lover aesthetic very nicely. Of course, it's not limited to that.
Some different types of half ups include high half ups. You can achieve volume in these half ups with a claw clip.

Personally, as an athlete, I need to keep my hair up sometimes. Well, there are a lot of options here!
First off, a casual ponytail is a great way to keep your hair up and (sometimes) off your neck. You can make them messy and loose at any point of your head. Adding a side part or minimal side bangs helps a lot with making it feel more like a 2000s style.
After ponytails, buns are another great way to keep your hair up. You can do a messy bun whether it be actually thrown up in five seconds or styled to be messy like Pamela Anderson does.
Another favorite hairstyle of mine is a braid. I love a low messy braid for the fall or winter. You can pull strands out or even braid your ponytail! Your hair is yours after all.
Pigtails and two braids are really cute and so very 2000s. There are so many ways you can do them. For example, you can do two fishtails braids.

Styling your hair is a different story. If you want princess curls or an overnight blowout, I'd recommend blowout rods, flexirods, or an old pair of clean socks. If you have time during the day, I'd put rollers in my hair instead of flexirods. The tension creates volume and the results work on any hair type! If you have naturally curly hair, dry your hair so your roots and mids and mostly straight. You can do this with one of those comb attachments on the Dyson hairdryer or any item similar to it. Make sure your hair is dry, not damp. Girls with straight hair are recommended to do overnight curls with damp hair. Avoid wetting your roots for longevity, as air dried roots make your hair get greasy faster.
Of course, straightening your hair was popular in the 2000s, but some girls only straightened their bangs. A lot of curly girls would scrunch their hair dry with an abundance of gel. We now know better; curly hair should always be styled wet, but it's still possible to get that crunchy look!
Start with your typical leave-in conditioner(s) and styling cream(s). Brush and style your hair until you like it. Start adding gel and mouse to your hair. This was a no volume look, so don't do this upside down! Dry your hair until it's damp and add more gel or mouse. Your hair should hold and still be healthy after you do it like this!
