how did you headcanon the breakup went between red and purple? actually, I just wanna more about this headcanon (that I'm really normal about <- is lying) so just tell me everything atp

HELLO OMG SORRY FOR THE LATE ANSWER I WAS BUSY WITH MY UNI WORKS 😭anyways well i haven’t thought about it in extreme detail before (ironic considering redpurp is literally my third ship 😭) but if we’re talking about red’s real feelings being for tsc… then the breakup hits different.

i don’t think red goes into the relationship knowing he’s in love with tsc. he figures it out at the same time purple realizes his own feelings for green. it’s mutual timing and clarity.

for red, it starts as this subtle misalignment he can’t name. purple isn’t doing anything wrong and the relationship isn’t bad. it just feels like he’s holding something back and he doesn’t understand why. then he starts noticing his own patterns. how his first instinct is always tsc. how he looks for him without thinking. how every important moment feels incomplete if tsc isn’t there to witness it.

and that’s when it shifts from “best buddy loyalty” to something he can’t comfortably label anymore.

at the same time, purple is realizing his heart leans toward green in that same quiet, unavoidable way. so when they finally talk about it, it’s not dramatic. it’s hesitant, soft, something like admitting they’re both not fully present anymore.

and so after the breakup, he doesn’t confess nor rush toward tsc. if anything, he gets quieter and more careful. because now every casual touch, every laugh, every “you’re my favorite person” hits differently—and tsc is still smiling like nothing in the world has shifted.

and for purple, he would absolutely have a brief guilt phase. not because red did anything wrong, but because he hates the idea of hurting someone he cares about. he’d replay moments in his head, wondering if he missed signs, if he should’ve figured himself out sooner. but once he sees red acting normal—casual, joking, not tense—he relaxes.

and i think purple is perceptive. he’d notice the way red orbits tsc. the way red’s energy subtly shifts around him. purple wouldn’t mock it. he wouldn’t call it out loudly. he’d just quietly clock it and go, “oh.”

there’s something almost poetic about purple being the first one to truly understand red’s feelings, even before tsc does (not in a jealous way). like watching someone you used to love find the direction they’re meant to go.

after the breakup, their dynamic would actually feel lighter. they go back to teasing each other. inside jokes return without that underlying tension. they become that rare type of exes who genuinely root for each other.
