Hi all. I am going to be archiving this account this week. I am also closing my Etsy indefinitely.
I know it has been a while since I have posted here, but I wanted to make it clear that I will no longer be posting to Tumblr. I am finally taking the long needed step away from most social media. I’ve decided to only keep one active account- that being Bluesky; which I will only be posting artwork and updates to creative projects.
I’ve only ever wanted to use my account to share my artwork and occasionally post exciting things in my life. However, being on a multitude of social media that has been designed to keep me here longer, to feed into my anxiety and continue the doom scrolling, to advertise to me relentlessly (as it does for everyone), has not been good for my mental health in the long term, and I cannot make real efforts to address those issues without ripping the bandage. I understand that the choice to do so and my ability to do so comes from a position of privilege and disengagement that not everyone has, but I hope that my choice can be understood.
I’ve been always grateful to my following, if you are already on Bluesky, I’d love to see you there (my @ is "kymjanine.bsky.social") But I don’t not expect anyone to follow me to a new social media app. In fact, I would suggest against it. I need to step back and hold space in the real world for myself. Only then can I even attempt at healing my mind and heart. Then the art can follow.
