You know when Orochimaru was cool? When he was doing all the villainous shit for shits and giggles. When he was being super selfish in what he did and being a genuine threat. When his panel time would literally bring chills to the reader. When he was out there being one of the best villains in the series, and actually making the story a lot more gripping and intense.

He is NOT cool for being a shitty comic relief character. He is NOT cool for having being stripped off of everything that made him villainous and scary. He is NOT cool for having being excused for his actions. He is NOT cool for abusing his own children by drugging and mind-raping them and further being pardoned. He is NOT cool for supposedly being best buds with the Good Guys.

Because naruto fans generally think leaders are just there to have their face on the mountain, they’re not there to make things better. They’re like if a previous leader made a mistake, their successors should continue the mistakes.
