You might remember me posting something about this song last year. This was the first song I ever self-produced and it meant so much to me I decided to create an outlet for this music. The purpose and thought behind this song "Looking Back" is the journey from a boy (or girl) becoming a man (or woman) and the loss of innocence, trials, and triumph you see through that time. SO many times in my life I have these moments where I'm like "wow." How did things get so messy? Where did things go wrong to end up like this? Or even in a positive light. Oh my gosh, "How did I get here? This is great." My goal was to capture that in 2 minutes in 18 seconds. The talking in the beginning is to paint the picture of a young boy in a diner, restaurant, or familiar place he grew up in. Then if you listen at the end it goes back to that same setting in cafe but at this point he is now a grown man who has lived his whole. He now sits in reflection and may even sit in the same corner booth he did as a boy, but now sits there with a total different life and perspective.
