Oh, hi, didn’t see you there. Don’t mind me, I’m just remembering a time where “Rainbow Six” used to mean a grounded nose-to-the-dirt tactical counter-terrorist experience that thrived on being a believable, yet still fun to play, pseudo power fantasy as a leader of a well equipped and well disciplined team
I would say Vegas and Vegas 2 were starting to lean a little into the more “cinematic” style, and it was a welcome change as it brought some fresh set pieces and some incredibly good changes to the game play
Make no mistake, Siege isn’t Rainbow Six, no part of Siege has that DNA in it anymore, and I’d even argue ever did.
Thinking you can translate Rainbow Six into an online-multiplayer exclusive 4v4 counter-strike style game with personality driven operatives fundamentally misses the entire point, and is very on brand for Ubisoft.
Though, and let me be clear: Siege is actually pretty good as a standalone game. It’s fun, got some cool dynamics to do, an addictive loop and progression hook, and the operatives are a lot of fun too. It’s just a poor Rainbow Six game.
