Mid-Summer Mori DIY Decor
Hey Fab Bats! As I sip strawberry ale on a sunny balcony, the sudden urge to DIY strikes me like a State Farm commercial. I know, most of you are October fiends. But, summer is a good time for mad concoctions. Dear Mori ghouls, layered faeries and woodland creatures, now is the perfect time to get on your claws and knees and give your room a rehab:
Bottles with Bows - super easy way to jazz up a bottle with burlap and lace ribbon.
Baroque Fridge - I really love this one. Give your kitchen a French touch with a bit of paint and some frames.
Fabric Wrapped Spoons - decorate old wooden spoons with DIY fabric tape.
Enamel Mug Organizer - mugs make great organizers in general. Pencil holders, kitchen utensil keepers, eyeball containers…
Vintage Labels - printouts for your jars.
How to Distress Furniture Using Vinegar - a quick and easy way to get a rustic look.
Whitewash Furniture - with water and latex paint.
Easy Fabric Fringe Garland - this one’s pretty cute. The instructions say rope, lace and fabric, but it could be done with other materials (chains, dark silk, velvet, fishnets…). For those State side, A.C. Moore has some wicked Halloween fabric around the end of August!
Distressing Old Books - stackable. lay them around or use the pages as place mats, surfaces to store trinkets on…

Twig Lampshade - charming, charming! Hon hon hon. Super easy project requires sticks, scissors, hot glue and a lamp.
Wearing a Chair with Crochet - add intricate fabric to a basic chair.
Shadow Chandelier Inspired by Nature - alternative to purchasing a 4000$ branch lamp.
Household Hooks from Dead Tree Branches - real simple DIY ideas for tree huggers…and choppers.
Birch Wood Candle Holder - create candles out of old branches.
Twig Candle Holder - glue twigs to an old glass.
Lavender Mason Jar Candles - start to finish DIY deliciously scented candles. Only needs soy wax, wicks, glue and candles.
Log Table - Dutch instructions on creating a log table. For non-dutch speakers, the info-graphics speak for themselves.
Book Desk Organizer - make an elegant organizer with an old book. You fancy fiend.
Shabby Suitcase - decorate a case with lace and fabric to store sewing supplies or surgical utensils. Requires minimal sewing.
Lace Pocket Hanger - use spare doilies, lace, buttons and various bits n’ pieces to create a sweet hanger.
Antique Drawer Pulls - paint drawer pulls to look used.
Branch Clothing Rack - put a branch to use. I think it would also look nice bare!
Vintage Pillow Cases - I personally must do this one. Follow the easy pillowcase pattern, then sew lace at the end for a cute cushion. Try with ruby red satin and black lace for a real revamp.
Ruffled Curtains - add fairy vibes to a room with minimal sewing skills. Use several pieces of fabric to create curtains at desired length.
Vintage Scarf Curtains - recycled scarfs. New curtains. Everybody wins. Can be done with or without sewing machine.
Branch Curtain Rods - quite enchanting. And all it requires is a branch.
Flower Office Chair Redo - decorate a boring office chair.
Rustic Mirror - frame tutorial. Wood, glue, paint, stain and staples + a mirror.
Canopy Branch - recycling wood without damaging walls or ceilings.
Witch’s apothecary - turn medicine bottles into potion flasks.
Poison Bottles - glass stain and chalkboard paint over glass will madden your medicine cabinet.
Moss Shower Mat - like ripping off a piece of the forest and gluing it to your floor. Only nicer.
Branch Towel Bar - instructions on prepping, sanding and setting up.
Mason Jar Toothbrush Holder - only needs a mason jar and wire.
Mason Jar Soap Dispensers - looks better than plastic plus needs only mason jars and a soap bottle! U lil’ hipster.
Jack Daniel’s Soap Dispensers - punk in drublic but still has good hygiene.
Twig Mirror - glue twigs to a mirror to create a beautiful frame.
Home Made Terrarium - a fine twist on a Country living craft. With a few stones and some moss, I think it could be used to create a miniature graveyard!
Antique Basket - paint a basket to look like an antique find.
Steampunk-esque Chandelier - create a chandelier by tying keys to ropes.
Light Bulb Vase - grow a garden in a bulb.
Lace Trim Flower Pots - jazz up some pots with lace and paint.
Branch Ladder - three hours of elbow grease. Worth it!
Tire Swing - who cares if you’re an “adult”. Everyone should be making tire swings instead of “paying taxes” and “morgaging”.
