This was composed and performed in 2012 for a dinner honoring Breast Cancer Survivors.
An indie montage I produced for Urban Bean Coffee in Minneapolis during 2010 using a Bosc 4 track and windows movie maker. This promo. was intended for the cafe's social media sites.
I composed the soundtrack and yes- that is me rollerskating at the end.
It was a joy to produce during this highly creative time in my life while living amid the Twin Cities catering Curbside with MPR.
As part of a group exhibition on "Immigration" Luis Pinedo of Coxala Grafica- collected works from Mission Cultural Centers' Mission Grafica- The Printmaking studio in San Francisco.
I contributed this piece for the show "From the matrix to migration" and it remains in the collection at the Centro Cultural Casa Hidalgo at The University of Guadalajara.
It is entitled "Futura" and is a mixed-media monoprint with color pencil and thread. This piece depics a pregnant woman, a globe and images of butterflies representing the shapes of continents and later repeated as a symbol of migration just below a baby in utero.
This theme of immigration surfaces often as I am a San Francisco native. Had I been born in Mexico- and moved to this great port city to raise a family with the hope for a better future, I would want nothing more than to be granted citizenship after committing to work and raise my child as a Mexican American. Considering the flight of the butterfly- this work was produced in 2009 at Mission Cultural Center as artistic advocacy for the rights of immigrants everywhere to live and work with dignity in the beloved cities and countries they call home.
