After delaying for almost 6 years! @githaisghie 😂😂 . Flashback: The year was 2012. We were on a several days journey by ship, #Makassar being one of the transits. We'd been dreaming & planning to squeeze in a quick bite of this dish, as transits usually last at least an hour, plus delays. So we docked past midnight and had arranged to meet up with some local friends. But as many other things in #Indonesia (or life 😜), there's no such thing as a predictable schedule. And so it goes. Long story short, we failed to the point we had to abruptly sprint back to the ship. Yeah, nothing like running towards the blaring sound of a gigantic ship that's threatening to leave you behind. 😂 . Eversince then, it has felt like a postponed promise.. . Fast forward: Year 2018. 3 days of #Ecobricks ToT in #Jombang, East Java. We discussed plastic; what it is, where it comes from, what it does, where it goes to. We each packed at least 200grams of #plastic into bottles that we know for sure won't be burned, go to landfill, or end up in river/ocean. And we had fun making modules out of these simple yet effective bricks. . But most importantly, I had the priviledge to meet grassroot educators, activists, community leaders, and youth #catalysts who daily are working directly with communities and kids, educating and finding ways to tackle issues of plastic #waste. So very humbled to meet these inspiring beautiful people who are enthusiastic about bringing actual action for the #environment. . It can actually be so simple yet powerful. It starts with us.

I've known that one of the best, if not the best, energy booster for me is exercise in the morning. Of course, getting back on rythm again after years of slump is the hardest part, not to mention waking up early in the morning, out of free will (I love my sleep) But once you do get to manage, oh what a feeling to feel fresh, energized, soaking in the beautiful start of a day, and actually feel you still got plenty of time to do whatever you wanna do. Truth is, I really like mornings (though unfortunately it often loses to my love for sleep 😜) I can't remember when was the last time I have gotten a 1-hour gym exercise, mopped the floor, brushed the whole bathroom, done some washing, have taken a shower, cooked for the puppies, and am sipping my coffee by 10am (okay okay, actually never 😜) Well it might not be the earliest of mornings but it's a damn good start of a day for me. New year's eve was spent at a new strange & eerie place covered with heavy fog and cold temperature, with everyone going to bed before 10pm #itsok #ilovesleepanyway 😂 But in the morning, just moments before we left, the fog cleared and the warm sunlight broke through revealing a stunning view. One that we couldn't even imagine before :) Hopefully my and your next days will be warm, full of light, and wondrous. Every journey, even the curvy tricky ones, are beautiful. What happens when a backpacker gets on a programmed tour with super-strict schedule? They get left behind by the bus. True story We were allowed 20 minutes to take pictures at the front only, at a super-interesting old town in an area that recently became the first World Heritage Site in Saudi Arabia. I took a quick run up the stairs, snapped this for 2 minutes, ran like flash back down, and the place was empty. No bus. No other humans in sight but me and my sister Long story made short, they finally realized we were gone when the bus finished with the next site visit (which fortunately was cut short due to it being closed), which was 1 hour later! I have been in shady situations before but that 1-hour felt too much like an intro scene to a twilight zone episode. It felt like a nightmare come true; being female and stranded in a ghost old town in the desert area, in Saudi Arabia (4 hours drive through #desert from where we were staying) Let's never repeat that.
