Happy 25th anniversary to Kushiel's Legacy! This book series helped shape my passion for dark elegance & subtle strength as an artist and writer.

I can finally share this personal tribute of my fan cover for CASSIEL'S SERVANT, the most recent entry in the series. I spent many late nights of painting and pushing the limits of my skills as an artist in-between other projects and rough patches (job lay offs, medical woes, etc.) to make this piece happen.

Here's to keeping the fires of our muses lit especially in the darkest times!

An artist's work is never done! The journey painting Joscelin for my fan cover of Jacqueline Carey's "Cassiel's Servant" continues, slowly, but surely, as I steal time to paint on it between the seams of life and work to chip away at all the little details.

Still lots to do as I made the tough decision to rework the bottom half of the hero figure of this cover, but the extra work will be worth it!

I'm making progress on my fanmade book cover for CASSIEL'S SERVANT by Jacqueline Carey. I've sketched a ton of preliminary options, a few which I've teased here, the rest which you can view along with my art style notes and mood board over on my Patreon.

Happy Monday! 🎉 I'm thankfully back at the desk again after the crazy weather weekend here in the Southeast US. Hope you all made it through safely! We are very thankful to have only received heavy rains and manageable winds where we are, which is very lucky.

Here's the first collection of all the "Cassiel's Servant" art I've made thus far to bring a little light and inspiration. It's so satisfying to see them all together after working on them for the past few months!

Enjoy a peek at concept art for Joscelin's Cassiline armaments, a narrated illustration of Elua, & preliminary designs for anemone-inspired enamel pins.

All this prep is leading up to my take on a fan cover for "Cassiel's Servant", which I'm very much looking forward to painting!

Continuing my visual exploration of Cassiels Servant by Jacqueline Carey with hypothetical pin designs. Condensing the symbolic elements from the story without relying on a character's face presents a fun challenge for my designer skillset.

More designs may spring forth as I read, but for now, which is your favorite?

My exploration of "Cassiel's Servant" continues with concept sketches for Joscelin. He'll no doubt be making an appearance in the fan cover I'm planning to create for this novel, so it was time to sort out his look!

I'm still torn on the design I came up with for Joscelin's sword blade and whether I should keep it simple or leave it as-is. Tell me your thoughts in the comments, book fans!

Now that my Birthstone Goddesses have wrapped up, I'm embarking on a new experimental art project which explores inspiring Fantasy books via art, sketches, and my own cover art interpretations. Basically my way of keeping my skills sharp and doing work for my cover art portfolio.

I thought I might also combine my love of narration, art, and storytelling into a video format for this one. We'll see how it goes over or if I've just embarrassed myself!
