you're just as sane as i am

she had found it almost ironic, how both her and kurt had found out about a sibling none of them had a clue about. when kurt came over to tell her what happened, she knew exactly how he felt. she had gone through the exact same thing just a couple of weeks before. she was familiar with the feeling of betrayal, anger. it wasn’t an easy thing to deal with, and she felt glad that at  least he had her to come to. supporting him through it all was the only thing she could do, and she took it very seriously. there was nothing that she wanted more than to see kurt happy after what he had gone through. 

when he texted her, lottie got out of her house in the pyjamas that she had already put on and crossed over to kurt’s house across the street. having her boyfriend be her neighbor was a convenience she definitely loved. he had gotten lost in his work again, but charlotte didn’t really mind. she made herself at home, playing with kurt’s dog and her own who had followed her over to her boyfriend’s house until she felt her stomach grumble and decided to make a quick dinner for the two of them. she was stir-frying up some vegetables when she felt kurt’s arms wrapping around her waist, and she let out a soft giggle as her head leaned backwards to rest against him. “i’m making sure you get something to eat after all that work.”

sometimes the idea of lottie still living across the street felt ridiculous. why pay for two homes when they spent all of their time together? of course since they’d only been dating just shy of two months, kurt wasn’t going to bring the idea of her moving in up just yet, mostly out of fear of losing her. people had already thought their relationship was rushed, but he knew it wasn’t. when you know, you know, right? he’d thought he knew in previous relationships...but he was wrong. he was exactly where he was meant to be, and he’d gone through hell and back to find her. now that he had, he wasn’t going to let her go. there was no doubt that he was utterly and completely in love with her, which again was something he hadn’t said yet, purely out of fear. in the back of his mind he knew she loved him back, of course she did...she’d said yes to going official with him after finding out about his drug addiction, because she cared about him too much to let that stop them from being together, now that they finally had a chance to be together, with nothing and no one else in the way. as he saw her cooking dinner, and how effortlessly they worked together as a couple, he was glowing. all he could think about was how he wanted this, and her, forever.  “oh yeah, i was working my ass off,” kurt replied sarcastically, nodding his head playfully as he did so, grinning at her softly after. “i was just doing some usual stuff, working on our new song, the one about you,” he added, blushing softly as he did so. it was hardly the first time he’d written one for her, but he still got nervous with her knowing they were about her. it was great if the fans liked it, but what he cared about most was the opinion of his muse, which she knew. “so, it was important work, which is the only reason i let it tear me away from you...kind of ironic. i’m sorry that i took so long,” he apologized, his hand sliding underneath her shirt so that he could trace her skin softly with his finger as she rested against him. “it smells amazing, babe,” he noted, leaning down to kiss the petite brunette.”thank you.” he had no idea how he’d gotten so lucky, how this angel who was too amazing for the human race had fallen for him - but he wasn’t going to take her for granted, he’d continue showing lottie that he loved her in every way he knew how. “are you going to be staying over?” the blond asked as he curiously rose an eyebrow, smirking down at his girlfriend. “i mean, it just makes sense...since you’re already staying for dinner,” kurt pointed out. “unless you’re getting tired of me.”

Charlotte: yeah, i can definitely do that. don't want your lazy ass to get exhausted after walking 500 miles to get to my place!!

Charlotte: sam can be a difficult person at times, but he will give you a chance and get to know the real you. i promise. and he knows you only have the best of intentions towards me. plus, don't be fooled by him. he may try to act tough at times but he can be a softie too. but hush, we are both the lucky ones.

Kurt: thank you. see, this is why you're the woman of my dreams...you're so considerate. you don't try to change that i'm a lazy ass. wife me rn 😍

Kurt: the same has been said about me when it comes to silver, so like i said...i get it. but i know he's heard and seen shit about me online, especially since cheyenne has slandered my name...and the pictures from the carnival probably didn't help, either. but that was the best night of my life...so, i'm glad i have pictures to look back at.

his reaction wasn’t exactly what avi had expected. well, it started out as awkward as she thought it would be, the guy - kurt, right? this had to be him - being silent for a few moments before speaking. but then he spoke and it took avi a second to process his words. did he know who she was? had he knows all this time? that his sister was living just halfway across town? maybe his dad - their dad - had already told him everything. but that didn’t really make sense with what avi knew… ‘it’s avi. i’m.. my name is avi. well avalon or ava will also do but no one calls me that.’ avi rambled. she took a deep breath, brushing some strands of blond hair out of her face. ‘i- silver is not- i’m here because of this?’ she spoke, her sentence sounding like a question as she extended her hand and handed him the letter their dad had written. she’d decided to bring it, since that would make her seem a whole lot more believable than if she just knocked on someone’s door and announced to be their long lost sibling. if someone did that to her she’d probably think they were not completely sane. ‘your dad gave that letter to my mom, it has your information and stuff. my mom gave it to me and well, now i’m here because i just- i don’t know, i thought i’d say hi? that seemed like the logical thing to do but honestly i’ve never really been in this situation so.. i mean, obviously. it would be weird if i had been.’ she closed her eyes and shook her head, more directed at herself. ‘i’m going to shut up now.’

as avi rambled on, the nervous feeling in kurt’s stomach kept growing. he knew something was off. when she said that she wasn’t here to see silver, the confusion in his eyes became more evident. as she explained why she was there, kurt hesitantly took the piece of paper, he almost thought maybe he was getting served or something. of course that thought was in the back of his mind, he had just fired his bass player before her contract was over - but that thought went straight to the back of his mind when he realized what it was.  when he opened the letter, he recognized the handwriting immediately. it was his father’s...their father's. “wait,” the word came out of his mouth before he had time to stop himself. “you got this where?” he asked, as if he wanted to make sure he had said what he thought she did. blue eyes focused on the note instead of his sister’s eyes. in his heart, kurt had always known that he and kai had another biological sibling. it was just a feeling they couldn’t explain, and they’d joked about it up until their falling out a few years before...but actually meeting them? he never thought it would happen.  there it was...a letter to her, a picture of of all three of her siblings, and her niece, included. it was a christmas picture from not long after silver had moved in with them, pear only a year or two old. he could barely tell the difference between himself and kai, so he knew it was probably confusing for her to see them so identical, when now it was much easier to tell them apart. kurt felt every emotion at once. anger - he was angry because he’d missed out on 22 years of knowing her, which also made him sad. anger at their father. compassion for her, love for her, because when he looked at her, he saw traits and mannerisms of himself. as he read over the letter again, his hand shaking as he held the picture, he let out a sigh and set it down on the coffee table by the door. without saying anything, he moved to let her in. before he knew it, kurt found himself wrapping his arms around her, hoping it was okay, as tears filled his eyes from the joy he felt of finding out he had another sister. “hi,” he murmured back, resting his chin on top of her head.  after letting go, he let out another sigh. “i-i have so many questions.” there were.a thousand running through his head, but he selfishly decided which to ask first. “am i the first of us you’ve met?”

Charlotte: you'll be the first one to try them. will probably have you try at least five or six batches, if i get it right quickly.

Charlotte: don't worry about sam, really. he'll warm up to you soon and realize what a great man you are. oh yes, that's exactly what i will do 😏

Kurt: do you wanna bake them at my place? that way we can be together while you wait. or i can come over there, even though it's such a long walk for my lazy ass 😫

Hayden: tHANK U ! everyone literally tells me dat lol

Hayden: pLEASE???? i can't drive back home im so sorry ill make you food as soon as i sober up (wc is probably tomorrow)

Hayden: u r a lucky man! BRING ME TO HER

Kurt: I'll be there in ten minutes.

Kurt: Believe me, I know I am 😍

Hayden: who's durnk?> i'm not lol

Hayden: now im at deja brew crying bc they dnt hv my uaual pastrt

Kurt: at least you're a fun drunk 🤣

Kurt: do you want me to come to deja brew and get you? i don't think you should be driving or walking at this hour.

Charlotte: it's an experiment. but i think it will work out. i mean, why not?

Charlotte: yes, my taste tester indeed. although i wouldn't tell sam if i were you, he has held that title for many years and he'll get jealous if he finds out he has to share it now. kurtsie, i will make sure you burn off those extra calories. don't you worry!

Kurt: well, i think it'll work out, too...but if you want to experiment, i'm always happy to be a subject for you.

Charlotte: yes i am! well, i was going for a cereal-inspired cupcake, and since you chose cinnamon toast crunch then that's exactly what i'm doing!

Charlotte: honey, you're my boyfriend. you signed up to be my taste tester without knowing! and there is no getting out of that, just sayin'.

Charlotte: of course i do. your opinion always matters, whatever the thing is.

Kurt: at first i might've thought that was weird, but for some reason it sounds really good.

Charlotte: noooo, but bake it off's newest cupcake does!

Charlotte: see, that is exactly why you're the best boyfriend ever! cinnamon toast crunch it is.

Kurt: you're making a cinnamon toast crunch cupcake? can I be the first to try it? 😍

Hayden: i dont wanna be sad anyrmoeeee
