It’s a little awkward. The hours just after the battle are probably not the time to bring up her new romantic relationship with one of her best friends to her other best friend but she’s finally got Harry alone for a minute and it’s important to Hermione that he understand.

He’s always been like a sibling to her, it’s true, but it’s not like he’s been a sister that she giggles with about boys. She assumes he suspected her feelings for Ron (she assumes now, looking back, that everyone probably did) but the words have never been spoken between them.

“So Ron and I,” she starts. “We are – well, we’re – ”

“I know,” Harry says politely. “I was there.”

That makes her blush even harder. “Well,” she says, trying to salvage her dignity, “I just want you to know that it’s not going to change things. It’s the three of us, it always has been, and I don’t want you thinking that Ron and I are suddenly going to start cutting you out or anything like that.”

“Okay,” Harry says.

“And,” she goes on, “we aren’t going to be carrying on all the time, and by carrying on I mean both, um, physically and in terms of squabbling. Well, actually, I can’t promised much on the squabbling front because you know what he’s like, impossible most of the time, but as he showed today he has a very good heart and he can be quite selfless - ”

Harry watches silently, a small smile on his face, until she just gives up and flings her arms around him, trying hard not to squeak with delight.

“I’m happy for you,” Harry says and she hugs him as hard as she can. “But,” he adds as he releases her, “if you start calling him Won-won I am never speaking to you again.”

“Fair enough,” she says. “But it’s your turn now, you should go find Ginny.”

“You think so?” Harry says and now it’s his turn to blush. He tries (and fails miserably) to flatten his hair.

I don’t like it, because it still has the same issue of blackfacing (and this isn’t just a modern Western thing). The blackface in the Philippines in which Filipin@’s portray the Aeta’s is degrading and wrong and I hate it when they do this in festivals like Aliwan and Dinagyang. If you are going to celebrate the Aeta’s, Ati’s, etc. you should actually get actual Aeta’s to portray themselves, not Filipin@’s who paint themselves with black paint or soot to portray them and say, oh ya these are the Aeta’s. We couldn’t find any so we decided to dress up and paint ourselves to be them! No, just no.

The only instance where I see it somewhat acceptable (and I will explain why I say somewhat in a bit) is in the Ati-Atihan festival of Panay as that festival originally was meant in honor of the Ati’s as part of an old legend from the people of Panay. The blackpaint of using soot was done to give honor to the Ati’s who sold pieces of land to the early Bornean settlers while in return they shared their food and harvests when the Ati’s had a bad harvest. The blackface in this pre-colonial festival was in tribute to the Ati who they had a friendship with and thanked for selling them pieces of land to settle.

So in this instance I don’t see it as the same as how blackface today is and like the blackface in other festivals like Aliwan and Dinagyang, because in Ati-Atihan, the non-Ati Filipin@’s did this as their thanks toward them along with the harvest festival (it was part of a dance in commemoration of it). Nowadays though that symbolism has pretty much been cast aside seeing as now Ati-Atihan has formed more into a religious Sta. Nino festival than acknowledging the Ati and giving of thanks to them and harvest. That is why I said somewhat because the original symbolism of this festival has been changed from the original so the blackface today in that festival has turned out to be like the blackface of other festivals despite the actual symbolism of why that started in the festival in pre-colonial times in the first place.

They plan before doing - calculating all the movements and what will happen if they do it in a certain way. They’re clever, tactical and realists.

Ravenclaw/Horned Serpent: The witty scholars. Perhaps the most common among all the Hogwarts/Ilvermorny combos - as intelligence is very closely connected to the mind. Their minds are dynamic. They have the ability to see beyond as it is. They’re very quick-witted, insightful and perspective.

Hufflepuff/Horned Serpent: The kind scholars. They’re most likely to use their knowledge and intelligence to help people. To understand them better. To do something good. They tend to be extremely understanding and compassionate.

Hogwarts/Wampus

Gryffindor/Wampus: The courageous warriors. It is very common for a Gryffindor to get Wampus as their Ilvermorny house. Bravery is perhaps a warrior’s main quality. They’re prepared to face danger. This combo tends to be all action-packed, restless and physical.

Slytherin/Wampus: The resourceful warriors. They have everything planned before going to the battlefield. They’re driven by their ambition. They want to win - they’ll do anything to win. They know that in today’s world, winning is everything.

Hufflepuff/Pukwudgie: The kind healers. The ultimate optimists. They work hard to heal who or what they want. Supportive, encouraging, sympathetic and selfless is what they are.

The Pukwudgie: Represents the heart and favours healers. It is more than just loyal helpers and medicine. Those housed into the Pukwudgie are those who value restoration and improvement for everything around them. They are the ones who repair things that are broken and alleviate the vexation that weighs against others. They are the engineers of livelihood, the freethinkers, and optimist. The Pukwudgie represents the heart, not just for loyal helpers, but for the will of striving for the life that holds our heartbeat.

The Horned Serpent: Represents the mind and favours scholars. It is more than just intelligence and wisdom. Those housed into the Horned Serpent are specialized in individual things, each one of them unique, yet each one they are eager to show and teach others. They are the collectors and enthusiast in what they avocate. They are the creativity, innovation, and the imagination that is what makes the mind unique. The Horned Serpent represents the mind, not for just intelligence, but for what makes the human mind what it is.

The Wampus: Represents the body and favours warriors. It is more than just physical fights and spirit. Those housed into the Wampus are those who value loyalty, honor, and respect for everyone. They are the demonstrator that stands for justice and the voice for those who do not have one. They are the immemorial custom of order, duty, and the steady hand in a battle. The Wampus represents the body, not just for physical fights, but for what makes the human body seem endurable.
