In reading The Mental Level, I reflected on construction and space in an image.Ā This class has challenged me to think about photographs and try different ideas to create this mental image I have, this thought I want to convey.Ā Through carefully constructing photographs, the artist can draw their audienceās focus to new ideas.Ā This mental image that manifests in the photographs tell the audience more about who we are and how we view the world.Ā Even though I have struggled with ideas for photographs, but not being able to clearly exemplify my thoughts, for this self portrait project I hope to be more vulnerable.Ā The song lyrics illustrate the continuous thoughts running through my head.Ā A softer smile at the computer screen illustrates how tired I am looking at my DELL label.Ā I hope to reflect my character by concentrating on my focus. On the other hand, this reading discusses space in photographs as how aware people are with their surroundings.Ā More directly, what is in their space.Ā Captured in a photograph, people react differently with their space which can speak to their personality.Ā Are they attentive; is their space affecting their decisions? Are they engrossed solely in their own space?Ā In my self portraits, I thought about how I am interacting with my space.Ā I attempted to portray my space as my thoughts.Ā During this time, in moments I feel confident ready to tackle the day while other moments I feel confused as my thoughts fog up my brain.Ā Ā
