With an amused expression, Owen watched as Lady ran after the driftwood once more, shaking his head some. His attention once more turning back towards the other. “These things are always a good time. Bonfire, drinks, too much sugar- What more could you ask for?” He signed back for a laugh, watching as Lady plopped down around his feet this time. “Wanna head up to where everything is going on? Maybe make a s’more or something?” Owen suggested, glad that Lady seemed to have worn herself out enough that she wouldn’t be a complete ball of chaos once they moved towards where the bonfires were.

Krishna nodded, more than happy to check out what was going on with other people. Taking their shoes off to walk in the sand. I really wish I had the time and space for a dog. It would be so much fun if I didn’t have so many other pets!

With disbelief and shock, Hank turned toward the voice hollering after him. He’d been a little too unaware of his surroundings and missed the booth and the person running it. It was the first time he thought that he was trained better than this and was happy he’d failed that. So many of the Air Force traits seemed to not want to disappear. 

“Helluva sales pitch, mate. How am I supposed to turn down food when the proceeds are being used like that, it’s unfair.” Everything was said with a smile, Hank wasn’t at all serious. Standing now in front of the stall, almost like he belonged. “Though, I’d rather just give you money and, uh, not eat that…that. What on Earth made you pick this to sell?” 

They grinned. “Part of the point. That is called poutine! It’s a Canadian delicacy. It’s so good. Come on. I’ll let you taste one of mine for free,” they offered up their little carton so Hank could take a fry or cheese curd out of it and try the deliciousness that it was. Generally, Krishna ate very well, but there were certain treats they couldn’t go without. Figuring out how to make this themselves rather than traveling into Canada for just a snack was rough, but much more convenient on time and effort. They supposed at leas that had a Tim Horton’s hear by to feel a little more at home.

“interesting, i’m not sure what would make a specific super power basic,” nico says, and he refrains from becoming pedantic and obnoxiously philosophical about the word basic, one of many which have slithered their way into colloquial usage that irritate him. “time travel would be pretty sick, though, yeah, i mean i’d love to see, like, ancient rome and shit. definitely be tempted to visit the future but i feel like that would just be the worst idea ever. unless mass effect got it right,” he amends thoughtfully, “then yeah, i’d just go fully live in the late 2100s. i’m one hundred percent down for a hot alien girlfriend.”

“I don’t know. It’s a bit all over, isn’t it? I don’t want something all everyone else has, you know?” Krishna shrugged softly. “Oh ancient Rome would be breath taking. I’d love that. I’d go anywhere I could.” At the mention of hot alien girlfriends, they rose a brow but the idea didn’t sound awful. They just didn’t know if they’d say it out loud. 

“Starting to sound like a date, Krish,” she teased, grinning up at them. “That sounds like such a fun idea though, I’m so down,” she added, nodding. Thae thought for a moment. “If I could be a blacksmith I’d quit mortuary.”

“So make it a date,” they grinned. “I don’t think I’d willingly choose to be a blacksmith but since I don’t have the option, I wish I did. Like you don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone. I suppose that saying fits here.” Krishna shrugged, linking arms with Thae for their walk down to the shop. They offered her their smoothie for a sip. “It’s mango.”

Baby didn’t know what else to really do but just raise her eyebrow at the man, eyes watching the way he talked with his hands as she tried desperately to find something to focus on. She had never been very good with small talk. “You’re thinking about what kind of powers you’d have… if you were a superhero?” She clarified, raising an eyebrow as she finally met his eyeline. “And you’re upset because a website can’t tell you which one? Just pick one. It’s not like you’re in danger of waking up with invisibility when you could have chosen, like… flying instead.” 

Krishna just looked at her. “Well, yes. It’s fun. It makes things all exciting, love.” They grinned before taking another sip of smoothie. “Well it would be easier if Buzzfeed could just be accurate, but I feel like they don’t even try anymore. Whoever out there is making super power quizzes at least. I just want to know what mine may be.”

“No idea, we just got here.” Owen signed back to Krishna with a grin. It was always nice to see a familiar face and always nice when he was able to sign with people as well. While he never once minded reading lips or having to type out what he wanted to say, there was just something so relaxing and nice about being able to communicate in his own language. “Figured it was best to let Lady get some energy out before we headed up to where everyone is at.” Watching as Lady dragged the driftwood back to shore, dropping it right at Krishna ‘s feet. “How about you- Having fun out here tonight?” He signed, raising his eyebrows some. 

Krishna was happy to learn whatever they could, whatever languages they could cram into their brain. Of course they could only speak 3 fluently, their sign language wasn’t too bad. I bet! They laughed at the dog, tossing the driftwood for her. I’m not too sure yet. I always have fun though!

“yeah i’m gonna say a grand total of zero buzzfeed quizzes have accurate results,” nico snorts. “my ex was obsessed with doing them. which was, like, kinda funny at first or whatever but got really fucking old.” really fucking old. “but, uh, yeah, that whole ‘what super power would you have’ thing has always been easy for me, i’d totally choose telekinesis, why would you need literally anything else if you could move shit with your mind?”

“Sometimes! Just not..a lot.” Krishna shook their head. “That sounds so easy. I wish I knew. I’d like to say time travel, but that sounds so basic. I don’t want some basic bullshit, but it would be so cool. To teleport anywhere, any time? Amazing.”

          a  grin  breaks  out  across  the  ginger’s  freckled  countenance  ,  listening  to  the  anecdote  with  piqued  hilarity  .    “    hmm  …  you  know  ??  i  can  totally  envision  you  with  something  really  ,  really  unique  ,  like  that  weirdo  milk  guy  in  misfits  .  though  ,  what  i  want  to  know  is  how’d  you  go  about  with  using  your  powers  ??  will  you  use  them  for  good  or  will  you  use  them  for  evil  ??  that’s  the  real  question  here  .    ”

“What milk guy? Can it be almond or soy milk?” Krishna narrowed their eyes in thought. “Obviously for good. I can’t be named after the god of love and compassion and use them for evil! That’d be wild. It depends on what power I’ve got on what to do with it though. You know? What about you? What would you have? How would you use it?”

The question did have her stumped for a brief minute. The more she looked at Krishna, the more impossible it was to choose just one. “Okay so what if I got two powers I think would have suited you? Or do you just want one?”

“Hit me. Gimme all you got. Some people have multiple powers or like something. I don’t know how it all works. I had a class years ago that had to deal with magic and shit like that, but that’s not exactly superpowers.” Krishna sighed softly. 

“Oh? Well, have you come to any conclusion, or are you still searching for an answer? Personally, I’d love the power of time manipulation. Imagine being able to just pause the world around you for a split second but make those second last years? I’ve always wondered, though, do you age, or do you stay the same throughout the entire time that passes? I’ve never actually looked that deep into it.” Elliot taps his chin, pouting his lips to the side, pondering a bit on this for a moment. “Hm. You know, Buzzfeed may not know anything, but…I bet movies based on comics of superheroes would have a couple of answers for ya. We should go pick you out some movies.”

“Honestly I’m not quite sure. I’m thinking time travel, but I’ve got no good leads or anything.” Krishna scrunched their nose a little before taking another sip. “I’d assume you wouldn’t age. Or maybe you do but when you unpause you’re still the same? I haven’t either but I’d like to know.” When Elliot said they should pick out movies, they immediately perked up. “Let’s go see what we can find!”

“Are we talking about traditional basic super powers or like, crazy out of the radar shit?”, Blake asked. He wasn’t much of an expressive fanboy out in the open, but he had binge watched and bought many things that could be considered nerd or geek. “I think it would depend on whether you were born with them or got them due radiation or some kind of accident, those are variables to take in account”

“Either. Any variables. Whatever happens, mate. I don’t know. Anything is up for grabs. I don’t think I’d be around radiation, but wasn’t Spiderman at a museum when he was bitten? Or was that just Toby McGuire. Honestly, I’m not sure I’m correct in that either. I suppose something like that could happen with a cursed artifact maybe. I hadn’t thought of that yet..” Krishna stopped rambling to think on what was even in their exhibit and what powers he could potentially get from it.

“superpowers?” brows knit together in genuine thought. “well, if you had one of your own it would probably be something related to your personality or your backstory — you know, for narrative purposes. but if we’re thinking realistically, it would probably be a genetic thing depending on your parents’ superpowers.”

“For narrative purpose,” they hummed. “I don’t really know. My dad is an engineer, my mum an artist. I just study people and look at really old things. I suppose time travel or whatnot doesn’t sound too far fetched, does it?” Krishna looked over at him with a dramatic sigh. “What about you, what do you think your story is?”

“I can honestly say, it’s better than my hometown,” she agrees with a slow nod. “Have you been here your whole life or moved here? It’s been six years for me, so much has happened in that time.” She gives her head a shake as her mind travels from thought to thought, seemingly unable to stay on track today.

“I moved here something like 10 years ago. Not too much longer than you. It’s got a fun charm. I like it. Are you doing alright? You look a bit out of it.” Krishna rose a brow at the woman, just wanting to make sure she was alright.

“From my very limited understand, aren’t superpowers usually accidents? Generally some sort of vague science and green glowing something or other?” Hank sighed, his heart not really in a super hero conversation. That wasn’t his genre. Instead he was kicking himself for moving to what had to be the friendliest town in America. It really put a wrench in his life as the neighborhood recluse. What he wouldn’t give for a run down house kids told spooky stories about. “Oh, or more money than should be legal for a person to have. How that’s a hero origin and not a villain, I don’t understand. 

They hummed. “It depends on the story. Sometimes they’re genetic, sometimes it’s accidents, a lot of times it’s an accident or some kind of,” they waved their hand about, “fuck what’s the word I want. Mishap. I don’t know. It depends on what they do with it, I mean. Many options, lovebug.” Krishna booped his nose.

reuben raises a brow, “i’m pretty sure that’s buzzfeed’s exact purpose to have that type of quiz,” he teases, hand gripping around the cup of his coffee. it’s his third of the morning and he’s tempted to order another to go prior to his job that afternoon. “i don’t know what my power would be. maybe some kinda bionic man as i’m already halfway there,” he chuckles at that, lightly tapping the metal of his prosthetic. “or, coffee man. the ability to just… vomit out coffee. i’d never need to come to a cafe ever again.”

“I know! You’d think they’d have better shit, but here we are.” Krishna laughed and leaned back. “Vomit out coffee? Sounds a bit of a trick. I have no idea what I’d even have. There’s so many options. I’d like to think transporting or time travel but that seems like such a boring answer.” 

sitting up, elbows pushed into the mattress leaving pointy dents, she chuckles at the absurdity of it all. sometimes people were so straight and narrow, so without shocking turns or surprises that she watched the dark haired man before swinging her legs over the edge and shoving her beanie over blonde curls, “you ever fuck something up so bad that you know you can never take it back?”

Krishna just stared at her for a moment. “All the damn time, my dude. What’s up? What’d you do this time?” They took a seat next to her, laying back on the bed with their knees bent and off the bed.
