Ah! But you see, Kristoff did need saving.

He wasn’t in any danger per say, but he did need saving.

When we first meet Kristoff, we see him as a big, grumpy, and very rude man, who doesn’t like socializing or talking to anyone. When he goes into the barn with his best friend (a reindeer) where he sings a song about how people will “hurt you, and beat you, and cheat you”. Something must have happened for him to say that. Something bad. 

He wasn’t even willing to give Anna a chance in the begining, viewing her as a ditzy princess with no manners who was just going to hurt him like all of the other people in his life.

And yet little by little he warms up to her. Each awkward babble, each clumsy move. All of her quirks, the way she talks, trusts, laughs, she shows him that there may be some good in the world. He falls for her dedication, her loyalty, how she would help anyone in need. He falls for everything that he didn’t believe a human, much less a princess, could posess.

Anna saves Kristoff.

Not in a physical sense, but in a mental sense. She saves him from his world of solitude, she saves him from living the rest of his life. That moment when he comes back running towards Anna in a Blizzard, that’s when she saves him.

Anna brings out the best in Kristoff, and that’s what saves him.
