The pale eye rushed past Simon's left side as it acknowledges him

And I'm pretty sure during the final stretch a drip of blood on the camera screen covers or drips past Elli's left eye too

What does this all mean?

The Latin word "sinister" directly translates to "on the left side"- right was referred to as "dexter", and because being left handed was less common and being right handed was the only acceptable option, being left handed was associated with bad luck, clumsiness and bad omens :)

The left hand side also pretty commonly represents mystery, intuition, instinctive reactions and chaos, which makes sense because nobody ever knows what the hell is going on and is literally just going off gut feeling and winging most of everything

It also represents the subconscious, which in my opinion could be linked to the Shadow man's appearance as a sort of omen to Simon's future (it's missing it's left arm and has teeth on the left side of it's face too) and kind of a guardian to Simon in a way (constantly peeling the tape off the button)

While the right hand side is associated with blessings and mercy, the left is associated with law and constraint (Simon being jailed for a large portion of his life and being used as one of the COI's work horses)

Along with the religious symbolism it has- in the last Testament (by the way I am NOT saying Simon is Christian, just need to make that clear), Jesus places the "goats", those who do not receive his favour, to the left of him, instead of with the "sheep" receiving his favour to the right

Biblically the left hand side also represents judgement (Simon standing before the Red Eyed God as it perceives him) and divine rejection/punishment

It can also represent lesser honor, which I think can be linked with Simon being treated as less than dirt simply because he is from Eden, regardless of what he's done. The use of words from multiple COI members suggests that "psycho Eden fuck" and "Eden piece of shit" aren't just because Simon has caused significant casualties, but it feels like it's mainly just because he's from Eden
