my verb tenses are weird here just imagine I'm speaking from a point at which kris is twenty seven i think i wrote originally that it's Kris who is interested in fire first (when she joins the league) but the narrative of "girl pining for unavailable ladies man" and moreover "girl pining for guy who actively dislikes her" isn't so appealing. furthermore, it seems ... like it just wouldn't fit her anymore. she would've done that ten years ago (at 17), but she's not seventeen anymore. she has enough self-respect now. falling for someone who doesn't want you around is something she would and did do in the past. by the time she's grown into her career, that's .... why would you want someone who vocally doesn't respect you? he needs to get over his grudge and reconcile. once that's over with, then things can get rolling

opelucid is the natural choice since its so close to the league hq but she probably doesn't like it there. I'm not sure which version of the city it is. if it's hyper-futuristic, she finds it jarring. if it's the archaic city, she finds it kinda boring. there's no win here

when i think of kris& buck, a lot of nature imagery comes to mind(???). their secret spot on the beach. picnic lunches & hikes on stark mtn. they travel together. so whenever i put together outfits for her (during that era) everything is very comfortable. stuff she wouldn't mind getting a little messy. the break up may be mutual but it isn't easy. for the first time in a long while, kris is alone, in a new place (shes starting to train w/ Marshall at the time & rents an apt in opelucid city). throwing herself into her training helps. when she comes home at night, she is exhausted, and is left with her thoughts. which aren't necessarily negative; just retrospective. she calls him and they talk for a long, long time.

does kris ever cut off a significant length of hair? yes (maybe) and i know why and she immediately regrets it and she cries when she gets home from the salon. Goodnight america
