She’d fallen unconscious. JJ could feel something tied around her mouth as she came to, still in the back of a van. It jolted to a stop, and she tried to figure out what was happening. Her vision was still completely dark, her breath feeling hotter than usual. Sounds were muffled. Shifting her body, she could feel something was over her head and face.
She could tell that she’d been drugged, from the weakness in her limbs and heaviness of her head. There was no way she’d be able to fight anyone off, much less run away from whatever this was. Hearing car doors slam shut, her senses alerted her just enough for fear to spread over her body. Taking deep breaths, she tried to convince herself that it would be okay. She’d told Will; if anything happened to her, he was to contact Matt Cruz.
This was why she had a creeping dread that she knew exactly who had abducted her. The van door slid open and she felt arms grabbing her, dragging her from the vehicle. Her legs were still weak, and she was practically being carried. The ground felt hard, she noted as her shoes dragged and bumped over the surface. The air was chilly, hitting her face and neck in the breezeless night.
Then, she was being taken indoors. Sounds echoed strongly, but her senses were still clouded from the bag and sedative. She begged her body to listen, to obey her brain’s signals to fight and run. Even when her wrists were untied, she couldn’t do anything. Brought into a smaller room, two men settled her into a hard chair. Her wrists and ankles were cuffed, she assumed to the arms and legs. Then, the bag was pulled off of her blonde head.
JJ’s eyes opened slowly, adjusting to the low light and trying to focus. She could assess that she was in something of an interrogation room, and her mind flew to Afghanistan for a moment. It stayed there when her gaze settled on a familiar face.
Immediately, her first emotion was outrage. Fighting against her restraints, JJ lunged, or attempted to. She knew there had been someone from the inside of the operation working as a double agent! She couldn’t be sure exactly where her rage came from, until she thought about how this piece of scum was responsible for the ambush in desert. It was his fault that she had lost something precious.
A needle was in his hand, and she found her limbs were cooperating enough for her to fight. It was no use, though, as she felt the familiar sting to her arm. She’d given blood before, and been drug tested by the bureau, but that was by skilled, caring medical professionals. Instead, this needle broke the skin painfully. “If I were you, I would save my strength.” Askari warned her, before making shushing sounds.
Jennifer Jareau fell unconscious once again.
