a NOSTALGIC grin played on kitty’s lips, “ well, sometime in 1980, a tiny thirteen year old girl from chicago is going to walk through the front doors of the institute, and she’s going to meet YOU and you’ll end up teaching her a lot. ”

     “No, I feel like I’ve been stabbed, but I haven’t.” 

“ youch… i can get you to a hospital. ”

“Classical music usually helps me study but I don’t think there’s enough Mozart in the world to get me through this chapter. Any suggestions?”

“ what’s your book about? partner reading has always been kind to me. ”

Looking up from the novel in her hands she glanced at the person to her left and noticed something, ‘Excuse me. You have a piece of fuzz on your shoulder.’ Rachel returned to gazing at her book.

kitty looked DOWN at her shoulder, wiping it away quickly before looking at the brunette with a kind smile, “ oh, thanks, hadn’t noticed. ”

“I have a friend who’s very opinionated on my wearing blue, meaning he’s all for it.”

“ stick with that friend. whoever told you blue isn’t your color is probably just a HATER. ”

    “YOU have always been incredibly smart.” he said with a smile. “its nice to have you here.”

kitty’s smile only grew on her lips, “ i’m GLAD to be back. i missed you crazy lot. ”

“Should I be concerned that someone told me that blue is not my color?”

“ who CARES what they have to say? ”

“Yes!” It wasn’t often that the redhead was joyful or excited in public; she liked to keep a neutral stance and facial expression when she wasn’t behind closed doors. However, an email on her phone containing an interviewing she’d sent her assistant to get –one that Lois had been having a difficult time attaining, sent a huge smile to her face and a loud exclamation in the middle of the coffee shop. Feeling eyes on her, she immediately retreated, her face growing neutral as she uttered out an apology. “Embarrassing yourself again, Lane. We talked about this.”

kitty had only been at the table next to the woman, her eyes flicking upwards at her JOYFUL OUTBURST. it was a look of pure happiness on the red head’s face and it made her laugh out. not in a mocking way, but in an ‘aw, she looks so happy’ way. kitty shot a smile towards the ginger at the table next to hers, “ i’ll ASSUME that was good news? ”

“Nope. I definitely don’t have restraint because I’m just waiting for my revenge.” Hope laughed softly. “Care to join me? That’ll really show her what kind of mutants she’s messin’ with.” 

“ REVENGE isn’t my sorta thing. more of a pummel and leave kinda gal myself, ” kitty said with a grin, “ but what’s your plan? maybe i can help you ‘cause i am definitely not a fan of what she’s saying. ”

“It’s not a big deal. I’ve been stared at in creepier ways, trust’ me.” Floyd joked. 

kitty grinned along, “ glad i haven’t made the TOP FIVE LIST, then. ”

after being OUTED as a mutant in chicago and forced out of her dorms by the anti-mutant groups on campus, she only came to star city PREPARED. she reread the note, glancing at the window once, before folding it into a neat square and tucking it into her pocket. she looked over towards the window once again and whispered to herself, “ BRING IT ON. ”
