This isn’t a hot take per se, but.
I swear there are only like 10 active blogs on tumblr even dedicated to antinatalist opinions or points of view — w the ability to offend so many natalists or parents 1000% happy w their life choices that made them parents itfp. I keep asking how these people even find the tag. I keep wondering how in tf they feel like adamant antinatalists have stances rooted in pure villainy or something — just bc we don’t like kids or don’t want to have any of our own 😂 or bc we go out of our way to avoid interacting/engaging w/or catering availability and community to parents or their offspring in general.
Antinatalism isn’t extreme; it’s not the flip-side of nihilism, either. They do not necessarily go hand in hand; they are not the same things. Y’all think there’s never been any such thing as extreme natalists? Or people who are obsessed w being pregnant for attention? You think there aren’t parents who are absolutely resented by their own children for having them or for how they brought them up? Are there not children or people born w genetic conditions or predispositions they got directly from their parents w/ a right to resent that? Do abusive, malicious or manipulative mothers not exist just like fathers w the same personality flaws? Have you never heard of circumstances where a teenage or underage girl was forced by both parents to go full term w/ a pregnancy she was resistant or terrified to experience? Are there no babies had simply bc one parent wanted to trap or permanently limit the other? Are there no babies born into communities that can’t really protect or support them? Are parents who are indifferent to sabotaging their child/ren’s mental health unheard of, or…? Are child marriages a myth? Or even arranged marriages forced between adults who are genuinely incompatible?
Antinatalists aren’t the extreme ones between the two, trust. That’s always been the domain of pro natalists, parents, and those open to becoming one. Really just think about it. How could people who are stubbornly responsible w their genitals and reproductive capabilities be less sensible than the kinds of ppl who feel like literally just anyone should be allowed to — and should naturally aspire to, better yet — damn others to exist someday 😂 like bffr!
