Adjective + ăă
This construction of adjective+ăă refers to causing something to become large, expensive, beautiful, or whatever. As with the adjective+ăŞă construction, ă-adjectives go into their âă form, and ăŞ-adjectives go into their ㍠form, as shown by the following examples:
éˇăďźăŞăăďźâďźăéˇăăăăďźăŞăăăăďź to make long
äžżĺŠďźăšăăďźâďźăäžżĺŠăŤăăăďźăšăăăŤăăďź to make convenientÂ
éăďźăăăďźâďźăéăăŤăăăďźăăăăŤăăďź to make quiet
çăďźăăžăďźâďźăçăăăăďźăăžăăăďź to make sweet
ďźThese constructions are sometimes ambiguous, and only the context theyâre in can clear up the meaning.
ăăăăŤăăžăăăă
Letâs make it beautiful ORÂ Letâs do it beautifully.
ćŠăăăžăăăă
Letâs make it so that itâs fast OR Letâs do it quickly.

iâm going to reach my goal this year. iâm going to work so fucking hard and make no more shitty excuses.Â
its kinda scary how your whole life depends on how well you do as a teenagerÂ
oh my god No it doesnât donât put this kind of pressure on people?? you can absolutely fuck up in your teen years and continue on to a good life just fine. you can drop out of school, get a GED, still go to college and finish your degree as late as you want. i know people in my school who still havenât graduated and theyâre 26. some older. you can always transfer someplace else, always build yourself up from the ground. after a certain amount of college credits, a lot of schools really donât care about your high school GED or your SAT scores anymore. if you fuck up in your teenage years you are not a failure!! you can ALWAYS re-invent yourself, always start over. there is always a second chance.
Reblogging this for my followers freaking out over art school/college. I dropped out of high school and never thought Iâd get into college as easily as I did. You will be fine!
Fun story my biology professor just told us: Â When he was 23 he was married to his wife and worked two jobs to support them since she was in college: gas station attendant and construction worker. Â He worked these two jobs because that was the only work he could get since he was at the reading level of a third grader. Â
One night he was writing something and his wife noticed he was writing from right to left. Â Since she was studying occupational therapy she realized he had a learning disability and started working with him. Â He slowly began to learn to read, and at 26 got his GED and went to college.
His first year of college he took the lowest level math course he could take, 001. Â Over the years he worked on learning what he needed to, ended up graduating with a biology degree. Â He then went on to get his masters and PhD, graduating at the top of his class. Â He is now an extremely accomplished biologist and professor.
So donât let anyone tell you that youâre future is based on your choices as a teenager.
Seriously. Â Do not believe this. Â You arenât even stuck with your choices you make in your 20s. Â I didnât start working in my current field until just after my 30th birthday. Â It has nothing to do with what I went to school for in my 20s. Â My husband has a political science degree, and heâs a sports journalist.
You are not tied to anything. Â Go. Â Be.
My day job did not exist when I was a teenager. And the idea of trying to be an author was a distant thing on my radar. I thought I was going to be an English teacher. And then I thought I was going to be a music teacher. And then I thought I was going to be a drama teacher.
Also in there: therapist, early childhood educator, then finally: web developerâbecause by then it was an actual thing that existed. I didnât actually figure out what IÂ âwanted to do when I grew upâ until about eight years ago, when I was 36. I tried pursuing writing when I was 30, stopped, then started pursuing it seriously again when I was 40.Â
There is always time to change. And donât let anyone tell you that high school is âthe best time of your lifeâ either, because thatâs bullshit too.
Reblogging for my followers. My high school teachers didnât know what to do with me, and I failed everything but a low photography grade. I thought university wasnât for me, and settled for marrying a mediocre man who spent all day on Warcraft. Then I went to community college. Now Iâm in uni doing a double English and philosophy degree, just back from America. I am also single.
Also important: College is not the only option. Donât let anyone try to tell you it is. If youâre not academically inclined, the trades are an option and they are a good optionâ if the only thing you think youâre good at is make-up do that. There are people who can live comfortably just doing make-up. We have this idea planted in our heads as teenagers (and younger) that not fitting into an academic mould of some sort means youâre failing at life and this is bullshit. Thereâs no reason to feel like youâre âfailing at lifeâ because you donât like school or were never good at it. We need skilled workers in the world, and the thing they donât tell you is all work is skilled work. If itâs work, it takes skill. Yes, this encompasses âserviceâ jobs, it encompasses all jobs. Please donât think that what you do, or what you have an interest in doing is of less value than something that requires a college education. This coming from the college-educated white girl who is a seamstress because itâs what I enjoy. If college isnât going to get you where you want to go, than you donât need to go! Itâs that simple. Take whatever path you need to get to where you are happy and comfortable and fufilled. If youâre doing what you love you are sucessful.
i didnât graduate with my bachelorâs until i was 26 and life took a few turns along the way but now, at 37, i have a job that makes me genuinely happy. and itâs got nothing to do with how well i did in high school.
This! This make me cry⌠Iâm 23 and I really donât know where Iâm going, so reading this kinds of storys makes me feel hope!
I love all this support and inspiring stories, but what I think op was getting at was that our teachers/parents/elders ingrain this idea in us that if we fuck up in our teens, we fuck up everything. So donât ever let adults make you feel less for needing/spending more time to achieve your goals. Youâre still amazing if you get a degree at 24 or 44 or even not at all
for everyone needing this as much as i do right now

The best thing about learning a new language
Is that feeling you get when youâre listening/reading/watching something in that language and randomly understand something.
10 Polyglot Things to Do This September:
Write 5 sentences per day in your target language(s)
Pick two films to watch in a target language and view each twice, first without subtitles then with them
Make 300 vocabulary flashcards or entries in your vocab journal (that only averages out to 10 words per day!!)
Use two weeks to write one short story, two weeks to write a personal essay. Aim for 1,000 words each, but donât get frustrated if you end up writing a different amount (:
Take a page from a book or an article in your target language and make syntax trees to brush up on your grammar game
Read the full Wikipedia page on a language or language family that you know absolutely nothing about!
Memorize the words to 10 Disney songs in your target language
Get connected! Send 10 language-related asks to langblrs you follow that are proficient in your target language
Google âHow I Learn Languagesâ and get prepared to channel the muse of other language learners
Transcribe one video in your target language
Good luck!!

How to  immerse yourself in a foreign language
Change the language of your phone/social media: If you have more than one target language, its a good idea to change the language of each of your social media apps:. For example, Facebook in French, Instagram in Swedish etc. Itâs great if you use social media a lot, you get more recommendations in your target language(s).
Listen to podcasts or radio stations in your target language(s). I use TuneIn Radio! You can download podcasts and listen to them whenever you want, itâs extremely useful, you can listen to them while youâre  commuting, doing household chores, while youâre shopping, basically wherever you want.
Watch movies/series in your target language(s) without subtitles / with subtitles in your target language(s). Viki is great if youâre learning Chinese or Korean (a lot of subtitle options!). You can also try to make subtitles yourself!
Read books (best way to get better at grammar naturally!), articles, comics in your target language(s). You can find a lot of newspapers online, or blogs in your foreign language(s).
Label items around your house. Seriously. It mind sound silly, but it works. Take your post-its and label everything (okay, not everything). By looking at them every day, you will definitely learn the vocabulary. It makes thigs easier.
Write a small paragraph about your day, let native speakers correct it for you. I use italki. You can also correct other peopleâs paragraphs or even find a language exchange partner!
Korean phrase of the day
Phrase: I have to rest.
- Formal: ěŹě´ěźę˛ ěľëë¤ - Informal polite: ěŹě´ěźę˛ ěľëë¤
Breakdown
- ěŹë¤: To Rest, To take time off - ěźę˛ : Should, Have to

When I'm feeling down about my dreams
So I have Genki 1 but have no idea how to start. Do you have any suggestions about that and on learning vocabulary? I'm not sure if you already have a post on that .... if so can you point me in the right direction? (BTW OVER LOVE LOVE your blog)
Thank you!! I made a post about my process with Genki here, but Iâll talk a little more about it.
Kana: If youâre just starting out and donât know hiragana/katakana, I suggest learning it outside of Genki using mnemonics. You can probably find a bunch of resources for this online, my favorite being from Tofugu.
Kanji: For kanji, I also recommend learning outside of Genki. The section for kanji at the back of Genki has good exercises, but it doesnât teach the kanji very well. Plus, Iâm not a fan of the order it introduces the kanji. I suggest finding your own way to learn kanji, whether it be using mnemonics again or using WaniKani like I do.
Vocabulary: The first thing I do with every new chapter is put in all the vocabulary I donât know from the list into Quizlet. You can use any old flashcard system from Anki to making physical ones. I always do English prompt to Japanese answer. Go through the chapterâs vocabulary flashcards at least once a day while youâre going through the chapter, probably more than once a day the first couple of days youâre studying them. Eventually those words will be pretty familiar to you, especially if you go out of your way to use them while doing the grammar exercises.
Grammar: As for the actual grammar stuff, I first take notes on the grammar points. Rewriting stuff helps me learn, but you might not need to. If I need additional explanation, I look it up in A Dictionary of Basic Japanese Grammar (thereâs an online version floating around if you canât get your hands on the book). Then go through all the textbook exercises that donât absolutely require a partner and check your answers using the answer key (I check answers after every section). Then I do all the workbook pages, which I highly recommend you buy if you havenât.Â
A new thing that I did that really helped was to go through each of the grammar points and make up 2~3 sentences focused on using that specific grammar point. I purposely use the vocabulary from the chapter in the sentence.Â
Good luck with Genki I and if you need more help, donât hesitate to ask!

Instead of getting down about how much I donât know and how inadequate I am at the moment, I need to focus on just being excited about the process of learning and growing. Itâs not âThereâs so much I donât know,â itâs âI have the capacity to become so much better.âÂ
I donât really know my purpose in life yet, but I think working hard and constantly bettering oneself is a pretty good start, so thatâs where Iâm at.
I have prepared a personal guide on how to self study Korean! So, if you are interested in learning Korean, and have no idea where to start, give this a read and hopefully it should give you some encouragement!
I should hopefully keep this guide updated. Updated on: 160521
Warning: LONG POST
